    "Mystery solving couple"

This book really showed what Abby could do as a psychic I think. Haunted house and the subsequent mystery solving were very interesting and fun. It was also the first time that Dutch and Abby finally started to work together as a romantic couple as well as a mystery solving couple.

I would be reading more from this series in the future.

Oh and the reader is very good too!

    "Too painful to finish"

I usually don't review the books I didn't finish. However, I must this time, because this reader absolutely ruined the book. When I read the first book in the series I thought -okay, reader sucks but the story is not too bad. Romance was kind of looking to be hot and mistery was all right. Then I bought the second book. Reader was even worse this time. You would think that people get better with practice, right? Wrong! I couldn't tell voices apart even when she read male parts, or should I say especially when she read male parts. To make things worse, the couple is dating for months without consuming their relationship. Ph-leese. They are in their twenties, the guy is extra hot FBI agent. I don't know why I got the third book. If I drank, I would think I was wasted. Maybe I ate something bad. Some mushrooms that got mixed with my salad and made me halucinate that this was actually worth a credit. Maybe I just wanted to see if the poor guy is finally going to get laid. After fifteen minutes of torture, I gave up. I suggest you give up too, before the torture starts.

Love fantasy books, usually with a strong female character. I also enjoyed just about anything from J.D Robb I am a fan of mysteries as well. I also enjoy funny and quirky novels anything from Molly Harper is a winner in my book. Since listening to audio books is important to me while I travel I also follow certain narrators as well.

I found it interesting how Abby can find trouble in the most innocent of places. This was an easy and light listen, narrator is good, and keep me entertained on a long trip.

    "Another great mystery!"
If you could sum up A Vision of Murder in three words, what would they be?

    Funny, intriguing, and intelligent.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dutch is my favorite character because he is very manly, take charge, kick ass, but also has a soft sweet side to him, especially when it comes to the people he cares about.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I nominate the hospital scene with Abby and Dutch, in the very beginning of the book. It was hilarious when she found out WHERE Dutch's gun shot wound was, LOL!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was, but it didn't happen like that, never does, lol.

    Any additional comments?

I don't like how Audible has their review set up, so I'm posting my thoughts all here!

Abby's story continues after her dealings with the mob from the last book, Better Read than Dead, with her taking a much needed break from her psychic business after reluctantly listening to her "guides" about clearing her calendar for the month of January. Abby is packing her bags from a short holiday stay with her sister Cat, anxious to get on the road with her man Dutch on a much anticipated getaway, where they both hope to FINALLY consummate their relationship. Just as she's ready to leave, two things happen, 1) her sister ropes her into flipping a house with her and Dave, her handy man, and 2) she gets a call from Milo, her detective friend, about her coming home right away because something has happened to Dutch. And just when Abby thought she would have a calm, soothing vacation!

Once Abby returns home, she is informed that Dutch has been injured on the job, in a very humorous way I might add. However, it's not a life threatening injury. She is relieved, briefly. Dutch has been sent home early because he told the doctor that he had someone who could nurse him back to health at home...........Ya, who's that? Abby asks, "You," Dutch replies. "No shit!" Abby thinks. Abby was totally blindsided with Dutch's presumption that she wanted the nurse position and, quite frankly, a little miffed with him. The pent up anger eventually gets to her, and they have a big blow out with each other. Will this be the undoing of their relationship?? Who knows?

The next pain in Abby's ass is this house she was suckered into flipping with Cat and Dave. She goes to the house, and it's an absolute dump! She can't believe her sister bought such a shit hole! Boy, Dave really has his work cut out for him! Then, to make matters worse, on Dave's first day working on the house, he is scared shitless by an evil ghost! Great! The house is haunted, on top of being a dump! Abby just can't catch a break. Dave calls Abby over in a frantic panic, and when she arrives, he is damn near in the fetal position waiting in his truck! After going inside and confirming, yes it's haunted alright, Abby now has to find out who is haunting her new investment property and why before her sister can pitch a fit over the delay of the renovations.

Speaking of Cat, she is really starting to get on my nerves! I don't know if I can empathize with her or care about her little problems after the way she seems to poo poo on Abby's abilities. Cat doesn't take what Abby is or does seriously. Example, in book 2, Cat actually has the audacity to try and read Tarot cards! She thinks all you have to do is learn what each card means. Are you kidding me?! What an ass!!! Now, she's not taking the house being haunted seriously and is telling Dave to stop being such a big baby and go in there and get to work. Man...she seriously needs to be bitch-slapped. I'm just saying.

During Abby's investigation of the former occupants of her new haunted house, she is taken into the most horrible part of the history and finds out that the ghost was, in fact, an evil ass when he was living as well. Go figure! So before all is said and done, Abby gets beaten up, shot at, and has an emotional fall out with her boyfriend and her sister. Kinda surprised she isn't in some serious therapy! This series has me wanting more with each book I finish! I can't wait to find out how things turn out between Cat and her parents, Abby with Dutch, and poor Dave with his traumatic ghostly encounter. Stay tuned!

Narrators review: Elizabeth Michaels does a wonderful job of telling Abby's story. Elizabeth, I would say, is a good "reader" and not "performer," She doesn't do different voices for the various characters. She's just straight forward reading but with some emotion when the character is calling for it. Elizabeth's voice does seem to fit Abby's character very well, and I really enjoy her voice. I rate her at 4 Stars. Good job, Elizabeth!

"Who you going to call, Ghost Busters"

Abby, her sister Kat and Dave, her handman, go into business together to buy houses, fix them up and then sell them at a profit. They buy their first house and wouldn't you know, it's haunted. Dave's first encounter with the ghost(s) was so terrifying he refuses to go back in the house. They need to solve the murder that was committed in the home years before before they can call in the ghost buster to get rid of the ghost(s).

There's also some great side storylines in between the solving of the mystery.

As the series goes on you get to see more of Abby's psychic ability and it makes the solving of the mystery more interesting. You also got to see a lot more of Dutch. He was on assignment and got shot in the rear so he's sort of recuperating during this episode. Of course, that little mishap has also put off the consummation of his and Abby's relationship so you also have a nice slow romance going. Their frustration adds a little spice to the story.

The narrator did okay but she doesn't seem to be getting better. There were several times I couldn't tell who was talking and one person was a female and the other one was a male.

    "Terrible Dynamic, Surprisingly Petty"

I want so very much to love this series. It's so close to good, but the ways it fails are really spectacular to me.

One - why write in a couple dynamic if they're going to be petty and awful towards each other? Abby is downright snotty about helping Dutch out, and then he's just dreadful towards her. It's uncomfortable. The author doesn't seem to like these two as a couple.

It's the author's prerogative to write whatever dynamic she wants, but it's my prerogative not to listen. I'm done with the series once I finish this book.

Two - the treatment of TJ, the single gay character in the book, was small-minded and awful. If your punchline is a person, and the person is funny because he's gay, you've missed a mark somewhere.

    "Characterless"

The narration spoiled this for me - sounded like a prissy librarian reading the words off the page. Once I got beyond the sort of characterless reading, the story was rather banal and unrealistic - with her "spidey sense" and intuition the heroine was really beyond silly to do what she did when she did it. I listened to it all - more because I was on a long walk and couldn't be bothered to change books than the plot which was obvious to blind Freddie from the off.
