Publisher's summary

From the author of the classic mysteries starring the irrepressible CIA spy, Mrs. Pollifax, comes a delightfully different mystery with a most unholy twist. Filled with all the hilarious surprises and good old-fashioned suspense that her fans have come to love, A Nun in the Closet is the story of two high-spirited nuns who accidentally stumble into a dangerous plot involving ghosts, gangsters, and Protestants.

I'll need to read more Dorothy Gilman books

Sweet, old fashioned story. Excellent character development. I listened to this when I couldn't sleep, but stayed awake to listen.

Not dated unless your imagination is dated

This was a perfectly wonderful read. The end was a surprise and really fun. It has my full recommendation for any age and family listening.

Cute

This was a fun, fast paced story. It’s like Sister Boniface meets the 1970s. Very cute.

The story is dated

Would you try another book from Dorothy Gilman and/or Roslyn Alexander?

I would definitely listen to another book narrated by Roslyn Alexander. Not sure about Dorothy Gilman. I have mixed feelings about her.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I found that the characters were more characterizations than real. The 60's radicals, the gangsters and even the nuns seemed to fit into the mold. In the beginning it was amusing, but by the end it seemed tedious and predictable.

What about Roslyn Alexander???s performance did you like?

Her ability to make each character unique. It was not difficult to identlfy who was speaking.

Was A Nun in the Closet worth the listening time?

It must have been because I did finish it, which I don't if I don't like the story at all so I gave it 3 stars.

Not my favorite

Easy to follow while doing other things. Some humor and unexpected turns but was like watching an old TV show that is a product of its time rather than a timeless classic mystery. I guess I’m spoiled by all the Pollifax books! I’m always sad to see religious workers cast as so naive of real life issues, since my experience is that one can minister better when aware of people issues. Yes, I know they were cloistered nuns, but prayer is more attuned when the pray-er understands what people in the world are facing!
