It is deep winter. The darkness is unending. The private detective named Jaycob Eklund has vanished, and Charlie Parker is dispatched to track him down. Parker's employer, Edgar Ross, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has his own reasons for wanting Eklund found. Eklund is no ordinary investigator. He is obsessively tracking a series of homicides and disappearances, each linked to reports of hauntings. Now Parker will be drawn into Eklund's world, a realm in which the monstrous Mother rules a crumbling criminal empire, in which men strike bargains with angels, and in which the innocent and guilty alike are pawns in a game of ghosts.

"great book as good as the others in the series."
really enjoyed the book, couldn't stop listening as with the other books. good performance by Jeff.
Another good book from John Connolly not his very best but still very enjoyable. I look forward to the next one wiuth relish
"Certainly lived up to expectation"
This certainly did not disappoint, another great chapter in the Charlie Parker story. It builds on threads in earlier books, such as the realisation that his daughter is far from ordinary, she cleary has inherited some higher awareness from her father. Additionally it works as a stand alone book, so could be enjoyed as a first read from the series. It is exceptional writing, Mr Connolly is truly gifted.
Has to be Charlie Parker, as always fighting against evil men and his own ghosts. In the most threatening situations he comes across as strong, with no fear and even some dry witty comebacks.
Jeff Harding always manages to bring characters to life he is an excellent narrator.
Compelling tale of war with evil in this world and others
"Another Great Chapter"
I've been a fan of the Charlie Parker novels since I first picked one of them up. This continues to add to the mythos brilliantly.
Jeff's narration is sublime and really brings the characters to life.
I've listened to all of the Charlie Parker series over the past 18 months and I've thoroughly enjoyed most if not quite all of them. I eagerly bought this one on the day of release but to my disappointment it's not on the same level as any of the others. It doesn't seem to move the main story arch along much and very little seemed to happen in the entire book.
I'm sure I'll try the next in the series when it comes out but with the mediocre A Game of Ghosts and being at book 15 in a series I think I'm losing interest.
John Connolly. What can I say? Utterly beautiful writing of such wonderful characters within a world of darkness set in our reality. I only wish he could write as quickly as I read his books, so I never had to look for another author. Thank your Mr Connolly.
Another great book in the Charlie Parker series although I found it a little slow going at times. But if your a fan of the series it ticks all the boxes
