Winter in South Dakota. Blowing snow, icy roads, a tired driver. A bus skids and crashes and is stranded in a gathering storm.
There's a small town 20 miles away, where a vulnerable witness is guarded around the clock. There's a strange stone building five miles further on, all alone on the prairie. There's a ruthless man who controls everything from the warmth of Mexico.
Jack Reacher hitched a ride in the back of the bus. A life without baggage has many advantages. And crucial disadvantages too, when it means facing the arctic cold without a coat. But he's equipped for the rest of his task. He doesn't want to put the world to rights. He just doesn’t like people who put it to wrongs.

I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
A great book, very well narrated and interesting. Reacher wastes no time in getting to the point. Lee Childs has become a favorite of mine, uncomplicated plots, entertaining characters and very well narrated, never a waste of money
Yes, others were good, 61 hours wasn't as good as all the hype
Narrator was ok
Jack Reacher .....he is cool
all great ...minor detail...actually very annoying, the book kept repeating itself!!!
I've only just discovered Reacher. Boy, what a hero. I would normally stay well away from such books but I'm hooked. He kicks arse, literally and figuratively. The count down was a train wreck, 61, 51 and on and on to what????? No fingernails left and where's the next book?
I am told that Lee Childs other books are much better - will give them a shot.
This story is implausible on so many levels that suspension of disbelief is more effort than it is worth. It started off well enough, but the identity of the bent cop was painfully obvious from the start and none of the characters were meaningfully developed.
The book is very well read and the narrator did not
A great book, very much to the point, Reacher wastes no time in getting to it . Lee Childs has become a favorite of mine, uncomplicated plots, entertaining characters and very well narrated, never a waste of money
"I do love a Reacher"
As always a great listen. Another great performance again and throughably enjoyable. Next one please!
A typically stereotyped Jack Reacher, unable to put a foot wrong. Boring, predictable, full of irrelevant technical information and a plot so ludicrous that it made me laugh.
"Well read by Jeff Harding"
Good story but not his best. I like the count down in hours - it added tension. The story leads nicely to 'never go back' but via the book 'make me'. It is good to read the three in order.
"Ii really enjoyed listening to the story"
Interesting good stiry
It kept my interest from start to finish
I liked his voice
Made me think
"Another great Lee child book"
Yes! Jack reacher is a legend!
Don't mess with Jack reacher
Come on Reacher, you're slowing down. You should have figured out who the assassin was, days before you did.
Normal entertaining story but plot had glaring gaps , hence only 3 stars.
"Excellent as always."
Excellent book, with excellent narration by Jeff Harding. The entire Jack Reacher series are superb.
"Really good read"
My first Jack Reacher book, made me want to buy more of them. Great thriller.
"Another great Jack Reacher adventure"
Not sure why some folks didn't enjoy this one, it's a formulaic Jack Reacher novel that is just terrific. Only glad I didn't read these books as they were released, no plot spoilers... But the agony of waiting for the next Jack Reacher book must have been unbearable, Jeff Harding is just awesome again, I can't fault his performances.... Rushes off to buy the next in the series
"I enjoy Jack Reacher but"
I think I've listened to far too many, and they are all getting a bit tiresome. 61 is an enjoyable novel and on par with any of the others.
