Publisher's summary

Four women - four friends - share a determination to stop a killer who has been stalking newlyweds in San Francisco. Each one holds a piece of the puzzle: Lindsay Boxer is a homicide inspector in the San Francisco Police Department, Claire Washburn is a medical examiner, Jill Bernhardt is an assistant D.A., and Cindy Thomas just started working the crime desk of the San Francisco Chronicle.

But the usual procedures aren't bringing them any closer to stopping the killings. So these women form a Women's Murder Club to collaborate outside the box and pursue the case by sidestepping their bosses and giving one another a hand.

1st to Die is the start of a blazingly fast-paced and sensationally entertaining new series of crime thrillers.

Great story but could use a better narrator

I’ve listened to the entire series over the years. It’s been a while since I listened so I’m starting over from the beginning. I would have given all 5’s as a rating but the narrator doesn’t do a good job with the different characters. The she does a good job differentiating between male and female but the female voices aren’t very different between characters. The same is true about differentiating between male characters.

Hands down favorite series ever

I love the twists and turns in this novel. I remember first reading it more than a decade ago, and it's still an absolute banger. I'm going back through the series as it's been so long since I've revisited the books, and thanks to this service they're even more accessible as I can listen while I work without completely distracting myself, which is important because every installment is a total page-turner that has kept me up all night in the past. Moving onto the second book as soon as I finish writing this review, and look forward to listening to the rest of the series in the near future.

It keeps you interested from start to finish

Classic Patterson. Well written story in real speach, with likeable characters, and a clever mystery. I'm looking forward to book 2.

Good Listen

Where does 1st to Die rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

About the middle. It was a decent story and it was easy to listen to and follow.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Some of the time - not always.

What three words best describe Suzanne Toren’s voice?

Whiny. Annoying. Irritating

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

Not a bad book. A little cheesy in parts. The book was predictable but had a few twists in it so that was nice.

It wasn't a book that I couldn't put down but it was definitely one I wanted to finish.

Really nice that there wasn't a lot of sex or a lot of swear words.

A must 'read' for mystery lovers.

This nareator was very good at helping the listener distinguish the different characters. However at times she was so quit I missed portions of what was said. The writing was quick witted and had me sitting on the edge of my seat wanting more. James Patterson killed off just the right amount of characters and have just eniugh twists and turns. The only downfall I found was that the beginning of the book was slightly dry and took me a few chapters to really get into the story. My last thought I have about this book is I can't wait to see what the Women's Murder Club does next!!!

First to Die

Great new series from the king of suspense!! James Patterson does it again with the introduction of the Murder Club - a club made up of four fantastic women who collaborate to solve crimes. This fast-paced, can't push stop mystery is James Patterson at his best. Hold on tight for a fantastic ride to the very suspenseful ending.
