Publisher's summary

Four women - four friends - share a determination to stop a killer who has been stalking newlyweds in San Francisco. Each one holds a piece of the puzzle: Lindsay Boxer is a homicide inspector in the San Francisco Police Department, Claire Washburn is a medical examiner, Jill Bernhardt is an assistant D.A., and Cindy Thomas just started working the crime desk of the San Francisco Chronicle.

But the usual procedures aren't bringing them any closer to stopping the killings. So these women form a Women's Murder Club to collaborate outside the box and pursue the case by sidestepping their bosses and giving one another a hand.

1st to Die is the start of a blazingly fast-paced and sensationally entertaining new series of crime thrillers.

Twists and Turns

This book is full of twists and turns which keeps the reader guessing. The characters are well developing. A little slow in the beginning but then the story takes off!

Rapt Attention

James Patterson always delivers. There were so many twists and turns near the end I wasn’t quite sure which and was up. But it was thoroughly entertaining throughout the entire audiobook. And the narrator was incredible.

Awesomeness

James Patterson has done it again almost as good as the 2 part story books "roses are red" / "violets are blue"
The shock value at the end is mind blowing to say the least !! Totally impressive!!!

Enjoyable, standard story

Enjoyed the reader. Standard psycho killer story. I'm sure when it was written, the tough, female detective was more of a novelty as well. Also, I'm not sure why educated black characters always have to get pegged with urban dialects. But overall a good read.

First of Many

Great narrator. Great characters. Hooked me. I will read the whole series. I don't usually read feminist books, and thought that this sounded like one. when my brother recommended it, I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. No agenda here, just strong woman characters. # San Francisco #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Good start to a great series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes because it is a start to a great series, Patterson seems to get wound up with this book and really gets going with the subsequent books. While they REALLY don't depend on each other it is good to start with this one.

Too bad...

Patterson has created another great series. Too bad the narration is terrible. The voice is nowhere near the character image in my head and when the narrator tries to imitate other voices it get's even worse. Otherwise, a great, intense story.
