Young Jessica Fletcher’s life couldn’t be more ordinary. She teaches at the local high school while she and her loving husband, Frank, are raising their nephew Grady together. But when the beloved principal dies under mysterious circumstances, Jessica knows something is off and, for the very first time, investigates a death.

Present-day Jessica returns to high school for a colleague’s retirement party and has fun seeing familiar faces. That is, until the colleague winds up dead - and his death has mysterious links to Jessica’s very first murder case. With nothing but her own instincts to guide her, Jessica embarks on a quest to find out what really happened all those years ago and who’s behind these murders. Because time is running out to catch this killer....

Narrator

I really like the narrator. She has a great voice. It sounds like Jessica Fletcher would sound. I love the Murder She Wrote stories. I have all 12 seasons on DVD. I watch them all, a lot. Thank you.

Mrs. Fletcher - The Adventurer

This is quite a story! Jon Land adds a lot of action and suspense to the Murder She Wrote Series. I do miss Donald Bain's writing to some extent because he always included information in his story that was interesting - for example in one book you could learn about the location of the story. Jon Land is just a different type of writer. He adds in some humor. Whoever thought there would be a character that called Jessica "Fletch" or she would be talking to someone named "Nails?"

This story goes back in forth from 25 years ago to the present. Jessica must use her insight from the first murder case she solved 25 years ago to help solve a present-day murder. In doing so, she reaches out to an old friend - Amos Tupper! There are a lot of twists and turns. I was unable to figure out the murderer until the end.

Just a brief note to Murder She Wrote aficionados. There are some discrepancies in the story - not big ones that bring down the story - but just petty ones that can annoy longtime readers of the Murder She Wrote series. For example, it refers to Sheriff Mort Metzger's wife as Adele. We all know that Adele was Mort's first wife. At this point Mort is married to his second wife, Maureen. Also, Amos Tupper says he is living in Kentucky with his daughter. However, Amos didn't have children. He moved to Kentucky to live with his sister. As previously noted, just little things, that make you stop and say "That's not right."

However, I do recommend this book. I found it enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the banter between Seth and Jessica.

Excellent story!

I am a huge murder she wrote fan. So much so that I go to bed with it every night. I was very hesitant to try this audible book, but was not disappointed. Granted, some of the details about Jessica are not necessarily consistent with the original TV show but the storytelling the characters were spot on. The narrator did an excellent job of characterization of the voices, and I truly will be listening to another one of these soon.

Connecting the dots..........

this book filled in the gaps ... How Amos and Jessica met..How she and Frank came to Cabot Cove. ..it was a really good story. she talks a lot about her life with Frank...just neat to get some extra back ground!

Really enjoyed this book

I really enjoyed how the book went from past to present. The twists and turns were good. I enjoyed learning about Jessica's relationship with her late husband Frank. And, of course, I enjoyed Jessica's sleuthing skills. I'd listen to this book again.

Fun and worth listening to while at work

I really enjoy this genre but not always the gravity of the description of the murder. so a lighter fun old lady going around being a nosy Nancy is a refreshing change.
