Publisher's summary

Professor James Moriarty has one desire left in his shattered life...revenge.

All he wants is to shame the man who ruined him and stop the brute from harming anyone else. Then he meets amber-eyed Angelina Gould and his world turns upside down.

An exploding steam engine kills a man at the International Exhibition. While Moriarty examines the wreckage, Sherlock Holmes appears, sent to investigate by Moriarty’s enemy. Holmes finds evidence that points at Moriarty, who realizes he must either solve the crime or swing it for it himself. He soon uncovers evidence of fraud and an unscrupulous company promoter. As he pursues those leads, he bumps into the alluring Angelina at every turn. She’s playing some game, but what’s her goal? And whose side is she on?

Between them, Holmes and Angelina push Moriarty to his limits - and beyond. He’ll have to lose himself to save his life and win the woman he loves.

A well-written story from a very good author

Moriarty Meets His Match (A Professor & Mrs. Moriarty Mystery, #1), my first highly enjoyable read from author Anna Castle, An author I'd wanted to read for some time yet never got around to. A different look at Sherlock Holmes & Professor Moriarty . All I can say is WOW! December seemed to be my month for new authors, January continued the trend, and now February. A well written, entertaining read, with intriguing, well-developed characters. Slow to start but when it took off I couldn't turn pages fast enough. Jill Smith"s outstanding narration added greatly to a good book's enjoyment. “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Moriarty Meets His Match

The story started out a bit slow for me, but I stuck with it and soon found myself fully engaged. The unraveling of the mystery kept my interest, and I find myself curious to see where this series goes... especially with the little twist at the end!

There is an error in the audio files. Chapter 39 seems to be missing. Chapter 38 is repeated, and then goes directly to Chapter 40.

A Very Different Moriarty

For those of us who are used to seeing Professor Moriarty as the evil arch-villain of the classic Sherlock Holmes stories, Anna Castle's unexpected recasting of the brilliant but reclusive professor as a romantic hero was a pleasant surprise. Add in the presence of a very traditional Sherlock Holmes with the ever helpful Watson and a spunky, liberated, not quite wholesome Mrs. Gould as a romantic heroine, set the piece in a science savvy 19th century and throw in a handful of completely immoral British upper crust villains to provide a foil for both Moriarty and the somewhat reluctant Holmes and Castle's story was one that pulled me in as few stories have.
I LOVED this story and Jill Smith's mellifluous voice and enthusiastic style of narration just made it better.
If you're a Holmes fan, or even if you aren't, this is a story you shouldn't miss.

So much fun

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I love Sherlock Holmes stories so imagine how excited I was when there was a series on James Moriarty!!!!
And Ms Castle didn’t disappoint! To think that Sherlock actually gets the villain wrong was a interesting and is a fun turn of events.
If you like Sherlock Holmes stories you’ll like these. But just don’t think of Moriarty as the bad guy to Sherlock Holmes. Cause in this book he’s not.
Really good story about sabotage.

Great new series based on the Sherlock Holmes stories

Wow! A great new series. I was not sure what to expect but I loved it. Very ingenious to pair Moriarty and Holmes with an equally talented woman.

Fun Reversal on Holmes Mysteries for +16 Readers

So much fun! I loved this version of a Sherlock Holmes mystery... This is a twist as seen through Moriarty's eyes. It is a must read for Sherlock fans and mystery fans alike. Can it be that Mr. Holmes has it wrong about Moriarty?

Parents- It has mild language, murder scenes but nothing overly graphic, there is some sexual content (mention of whoring and gentlemen's needs, descriptions of intimate situations but no actual bedroom scenes)- probably PG13 and for +16 readers.

The narrator does a fantastic job with the differentiation between characters, accents, overall acting, and was just a lot of fun to listen to.

If you like Agatha Christie - grab this!

Delightful original story which weaves in a character we all know (Sherlock Holmes), in a completely different light, and does so quite brilliantly.
This is an old fashioned mystery read by possibly the best narrator I've ever heard. I will definitely be looking for more from this author and narrator!
I was provided this book in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting Twist

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.

Interesting twist - making Moriarty into a good guy. I found it started a bit slow, but once it got going I really enjoyed this. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

The narrator, Jill Smith, did a nice job.
