Publisher's summary

The incredible story of how a schoolteacher built a million-dollar portfolio, and how you can too....

Most people wouldn't expect a schoolteacher to amass a million-dollar investment account. But Andrew Hallam did so, long before the typical retirement age. And now, with Millionaire Teacher, he wants to show you how to follow in his footsteps. With lively humor and the simple clarity you'd expect from a gifted educator, Hallam demonstrates how average people can build wealth in the stock market by shunning the investment products peddled by most financial advisors and avoiding the get-rich-quicker products concocted by an ever widening, self-serving industry.

Using low-cost index funds, coupled with a philosophy in line with the one that made Warren Buffett a multi-billionaire, Hallam guides readers to understand how the stock and bond markets really work, arming you with a psychological advantage for when markets fall.

  • Shows why young investors should hope for stock market crashes if they want to get rich.
  • Explains how you can spend just 60 minutes a year on your investments, never open a financial paper, avoid investment news, and still leave most professional investors in the dust.
  • Promotes a unique new investment methodology that combines low cost index funds and a Warren Buffett-esque investment philosophy.

Millionaire Teacher explains how any middle-income individual can learn can learn the ABCs of personal finance and become a multi-millionaire, from a schoolteacher who has been there and done that.

My honest review

What I enjoyed about this book was how simple of a listen it was. The writer made it very manageable and understandable for the beginner investor. Would recommend to anyone trying to become an investor.

Great info, could cut back on some of the details.

Great book, lots of good information but sometimes went into great detail. Personally, I am a make your point and move on type, so at times this book was repetitive. But, again, Great book!

Very technical but good!

This book was very informative and extremely detailed. It provided a lot of technical information on how to invest and the why behind the provided strategy. I feel much more confident than I did before reading the book.

Proud reader.

I enjoyed this book. For a beginner though, I had to re-read a few chapters that I just couldn't comprehend because of my inexperience but it became sensical eventually. I was a bit put to sleep when he went through every single figure and table word by word. Overall great read and heads you in the right direction in my opinion.

Fantastic Book

Great content full of simple but effective strategies. I wish I had learned this (and cared more) ten years ago. Get ready to listen to a lot of spelled out URLs though.

New markets on hold

my small circle of friends recently have been using terms as "short squeeze" as of late. Thank good I had this read in my library, so now I can respond "how are your index funds doing?" Definitely a fan of working (investing) smarter not harder. as a retiree and soon to be a two time retiree I believe slow and steady wins the race. This book informed me of investment vehicles suited for me as wells as tools to evaluate investment vehicles. oh and any mention of the Wizard of Omaha is always a win for me! Good book.

great guidelines for everyone!

These guidelines work for everyone, by everyone I mean anyone. even if there is a complex topic you can go deeper and study on detail. I agree with the author that all these lessons should be offered in high school.
