Publisher's summary

The Militant Normals, written by one of the conservative movement's wittiest commentators, is a no-holds-barred takedown of the preening elites who have all but made normalcy a crime in America.

Donald Trump is only the beginning of a mighty disruption in American politics and culture, thanks to the rise of the militant Normals in America.

They built this country, they make it run, and when called on, they fight for it. They are the heart and soul of the US. They are the Normals, the regular Americans of all races, creeds, preferences, and both sexes who just want to raise their families and live their lives in peace. And they are getting angry....

For decades, they have seen their cherished beliefs and beloved traditions under attack. They have been told they are racist, sexist, and hateful, but it was all a lie. Their ability to provide for their families has been undermined by globalization with no consideration of the effects on Americans who did not go to Harvard and who live in that vast forgotten space between New York and Santa Monica.

A smug, condescending elite spanning both established parties has gripped the throat of the nation. Convinced of their own exquisite merit while refusing to be held accountable for their myriad failures, these elitists managed to suppress the first rumblings of discontent when they arose in the form of the Tea Party. But they were stunned when the Normals did not simply scurry back to their flyover homes. Instead, the Normals came out in force and elected Donald Trump.

Now, as the ruling caste throws everything it can into the fight to depose Donald Trump and reestablish unchallenged control, the Normals face a choice. They can either surrender their country and their sovereignty, or they can become even more militant....

Critic reviews

"Kurt's Schlichter's roots in Americana shine in his prose, from faith, family and patriotism to self-sufficiency, his verse on people and communities standing up for their values and their priorities veers from poetry to counter punch, making it a book that is hard to put down." (Salena Zito, author and reporter)

"Have you had it up to your keister with the Elites and their Hate America First bullying attitude while you bust your chops supporting your family? Do you despise the corrupt Mainstream Media and their daily barrage of Leftist propaganda while you're just trying to read the news? Are you sick of being challenged to an existential fight by two-bit Social Justice Warriors who can't even change a flat tire, much less load a ten-round mag? If so, Militant Normals is for you. With his trademark combination of biting wit and in-your-face wisdom, Kurt Schlichter hands out plenty of ammo to the long-suffering people of America, who have risen up to defeat Hillary Clinton, elect Donald Trump, and can't wait to confront their Elitist tormentors at last. Like the Colonel says, they want us dead or enslaved. So mount up, praise the Lord and pass the popcorn. The struggle is real." (Michael Walsh, author of The Devil's Pleasure Palace and The Fiery Angel)

"Kurt Schlichter has his finger on the pulse of normal Americans and his heel on the neck of the Washington/NewYork/LA liberal snob class. He's captured perfectly the sentiments of 'flyover land,' the people who make the country work and are sick of being worked by the coastal elites who look down their noses at them, and he's done it with biting humor. Read Militant Normals and learn from it because there are important lessons in there behind Kurt's snark and righteous fury." (Derek Hunter, author and columnist)

A must read for anyone wondering what is going on

This book does a great job of explaining the existential battle between the people that do the heavy lifting and the elite class that would like them to shut up and do what they are told.

Too short... not a problem listened to it twice.

I've held off purchasing this book and others like it. I care about politics, but I don't care for it to be a part of my daily life. However, some things are getting hard to ignore. Kurt Schlichter gets it. I enjoyed his book and the comedic tone in which he wrote it. It's no laughing matter, but ridicule is the best defense. If anything, the book is too short. But I listened to it twice in a row and enjoyed every bit the second time. Tony Katz provides an outstanding performance.

Focused Normal

This is a cogent, thoughtful explanation of the mainstream educational model, its role in the breakdown of our current culture and how it has shaped the political spectrum. I have, as a general rule, experienced personal bias towards certain individuals. Now I can name them. Elites. I am a Normal. This excellent and highly entertaining book is spot on in its analysis and explanations. I have recommended this to many others in my circle and given it to my Dad. He and I have something more to talk about now. Thank you, Mr. Schlichter.

Funny and instructive

Humorously summarizes the political climate in America for the last few decades.

I always appreciate it when an author reads his/her own book and Kurt does a good job with this one. Narrated with energy and appropriate irony, sarcasm and humor.

"Jeb!" had me laughing and "Conservative Inc" is an apt a description of neocons as I've ever heard. (those people who have turned me into a libertarian)

Although I have been politically active for many years, it was the prospect of another eight years of 0bama policies which turned me into a militant normie. I didn't have much expectation of Donald Trump other than he not continue those policies - I thought that maybe he could keep us treading water long enough for someone qualified to step in.

To my amazement, he has accomplished more in two years than I would have expected in eight. He's dismantling the elite networks of power and control and returning this country to the people. Peace in North Korea, A true alliance with Saudi Arabia, a people's revolution in Iran, pulling us out of the oil-driven wars in Syria and Afghanistan. He's bringing back heavy industry and manufacturing and small business along with our GDP.

And he's found circuitous ways around the media, in order to talk to us directly. He punches back against the fake media and rightfully names it as our worst enemy - they are traitors to our country. We are glad to have a president who fights back, trolls the press, fights for us. He's funny and his tweet storms are hilarious, partly because they so baffle the pundits, who pile on criticism and invective, 24/7.

He's the man for us and this is the book to read to understand why he is there.

Listening again to much of it.

Schlichter's analysis is exceptionally incisive and the presentation is clean and clear.

I seldom listen to a book (Audible) a second time. This one's worth it.

Dems, read/ listen to this before it’s too late!

I am an unapologetic Bernie progressive. I’m also a so-called Elitist.

Step into the world of the Normals. Listen. Reflect on your (political/ ideological) beliefs. Are they at the expense of others, i.e. Trump voters? Do you think Trump voters are ‘stupid’ or ‘ignorant’ (or deplorable!)? Do you think their beliefs are dangerous?

If you are like me, you probably don’t even know the extent of your bias and prejudice, because you’ve always been on the ‘right’ side, condemning prejudice. But if you are a ‘smart’ person, this book will make you laugh because what else can you do when it becomes apparent how much ignorance and prejudice you walk in the world with ... I’m not trying to be self-hating. Ironically, you’ll love yourself more after reading this. And you’ll love people more (except maybe Elitists). Don’t worry, I’m still a Bernie man, Cruz is still a sociopath and there’s vegan chicken nuggets in my fridge. But Demo policies need to pass the ‘Normal’ test if we want to truly evolve. Oh, and take a trip to Peoria - swing by while you are in Chicago.

Elites vs. Normals

Author Kurt Schlichter views US society into two groups which he calls elites and the Normals. He defines the two terms precisely. The focus of Kurt Schlichter's Militant Normals is that Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election by running against the elites of both major political parties and thus won the election by appealing to the non-elites who he calls the Normals (he always capitalizes Normal and Normals). One of his key points is that Trump beat Democrats by running a campaign in which he was aggressive like Democrats.

Schlichter, more so than other writers of political books and columns, uses extremely colorful, yet easily understood, language. He saves his harshest attacks for elitist movement conservatives who are anti-Normals. I have not listened to others of the recent crop of conservative/pro-Trump political books such are those written by Greg Jarrett, Jeanine Pirro, Tucker Carlson, Sebastian Gorka, Don Bongeno, Newt Gingrich, Ann Coulter, and Derek Hunter, but I doubt that any are better that Militant Normals.

Narration is superb.
