Publisher's summary

When Jesus thought about the church, what did he imagine? Most churches are small, and rightly so. With power being redistributed in our time, networks of smaller enterprises are both growing and thriving. The yearning for participation and empowerment has us all looking for versions of church that make room for everyone. Perhaps, after all our hand wringing and insecurity about the size of our churches, we have missed the point. Microchurches can be strong, beautiful, accessible, and potent portraits of just what Jesus had in mind, if not for all time, at least for ours. This book is a guide to understanding, appreciating, and if you are up for it, starting a microchurch.

Incredibly helpful and insightful!

Phenomenal book by Brian Sanders! As God has been leading my wife and I to begin the process of birthing a microchurch and seeking God for future days of expansion / multiplication, this was a complete breath of fresh air and encouragement. Brian’s other book “The Underground” is also an incredible work. I highly recommend both.

Looking Back In Order To Go Forward

Microchurch is a manifesto of God's original plan for his people lived out in its present context. It challenges the church to once again become transformative in its ministry using the collective impact of a diverse group of people already sitting in the pews and scattered in its community. Microchurch is the idea in the mind of Jesus' commission to reach people, change lives and make a difference in the life of every community. This should be foundational reading for every church leader and member. It reveals what the unchurched masses is looking for.

Good Appendage to Underground Church

I appreciate all Brian is doing to promote and develop the mission of microchurch ministry. This was helpful to me as someone pursuing the development of a microchurch network and trying to figure out how to encourage people and actually help them start and maintain microchurches. It is a quick easy read and seems to be geared toward the microchurch pastor. Extremely valuable for that. I sort of feel like it could be an appendage to his other book, Underground Church (which was fantastic).
The first half is thematically redundant to that book arguing for the value and need for microchurch. However, the second half really helps fill in some holes about the role of the microchurch leader and how he/she actually gets going.

It is always neat to hear the author read. I appreciate that. However, Brian seems to read in small emphatic bursts with longer pauses, which were a little distracting to someone seeking to learn nuts and bolts. I had to crank up the speed to about double.

Very appreciative of the Book and info! Worthwhile purchase! Thanks!

Perhaps for such a time as this

This book handles a little published topic with excellence. One would expect such a book to be authored by a hayseed whose charisma sparked success that is neither scalable nor replicable. To my amazement, Sanders depth in this arena is peerless yet his presentation is understandable at a novice, lay level.
I am convinced that this emerging paradigm is the future of the Western Church and the redemption of the mega-multi-church.
Start here. This isn't cake and ice cream but it also isn't all carrots, cabbage, and roughage.
Stay here. I am digging deep into Sanders' Underground to determine the model-less model for which I have been called.
