Publisher's summary

Witness the simple power of the gospel in your everyday life.

The word "Evangelism" makes many Christians uncomfortable. Perhaps it is because evangelism "formulas" often feel manufactured, non-relational, and forced. But Jesus modeled a paradigm that was precisely the opposite. He shared the gospel in simple and personal ways by seeking out "the one"—the one who needed to meet Him most.

God led David McIver to follow this example, looking for one specific person each day with whom to share the love of Jesus. Amazing Kingdom results followed his simple act of obedience.

In Looking for the One, David McIver—veteran minister, executive director for PraiseLive radio, and former Chapel leader serving the Minnesota Twins—liberates listeners from "evangelism" formulas, equipping them instead to walk in the same surrendered attentiveness that Jesus modeled, seeing lives transformed by the true power of the gospel.

Looking For the One is short stories about people experiencing Jesus in grocery stores, hospitals, and dugouts. Each story models what happens when you invite Jesus to look for the one through you. It's replacing a formula or system with organic and supernatural encounters.

Each short story includes resources and discussion questions, equipping you to carry the gospel in ways that are….

  • Genuine
  • Respectful
  • Organic
  • Loving
  • Relational
  • Transformative

As you witness the gospel's simple power in your everyday life, you discover that the first life to be changed is yours. Because as you look for the one, you become like the One. You become more like Jesus.

"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them—what do you do? You leave the other ninety-nine sheep in the pasture and go looking for the one that got lost until you find it." (Luke 15:4 NIV)

So challenging to listen to the Lord and do what he prompts us to do.

Such practical, down to earth ways of moving from ordinary to gospel conversations that transform lives.

Inspiration to serve God!

This book was such a blessing to our entire family. From 16 down to 11 they begged to listen to these stories. We have been inspired to listen to God and look for the one that needs Jesus! David is a great narrator and makes it even more special knowing he wrote and experienced these stories. I am so thankful to have been introduced to this book.

Inspiring and thought provoking!

There’s so many examples of what it looks like to wake up and serve Gods Will daily! If we all approached every day looking for the one what a different world we’d live in. The author lays out an amazing game plan to live life for Christ and lead many others to Him too. This is a must read if you love hearing miracle after miracle and what life looks like when your wearing Gods armor

The heartwarming interactions

Excellent and practical yet God-honoring! Most impacting - The one about looking for the one in the family because I have such a situation in my family. I’m going to practice buying that bucket of mini donuts for one of my sisters and pray that the Lord will smash any anything that is standing in her way from her embracing His love and grace and ours for her!🌹🙏🌈
