Editorial reviews

ABC News political commentator and Emmy Award-winning journalist Cokie Roberts displays a real passion for history and the hidden voices belonging to women whose lives were intertwined with famous and infamous men in political history. In her earthy voice, Roberts talks humorously about how her mother inspired her book Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation. Roberts talks about seeing historical figures from the perspective of the women around them and the importance of seeing these men as flesh and blood instead of the mythical characters they've become. Listeners will enjoy how Roberts makes history feel alive and accessible with her charming anecdotes.

What a president she would have made !!!

I have always felt inspired by Cokie Roberts'r commentary and ideas. However, she was much more than those products of her carrier; Cokie Roberts was a roll-model for women....full stop. Her insights were right on, and never grandiose, she was a loving daughter and loving mother to her children, and I'm very sure one of the best-hearted grandmothers ever And I think of her as a devoted and loving wife. . Hope she took comfort from the fact so many of us women respected her intelligence and common sense, and loved her as a warrior for women's rights.

thank you Cokie

Considering that we have lost a giant American woman, I am so happy that we have recordings like this one, your books and your broadcasts to hold onto and to listen to ad lib. God bless you.
