Pulitzer-prize winning author and journalist Geraldine Brooks talks about the concept of home and where the heart really is. The Boyer Lectures have been going since the early days of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (this is the 52nd year). Every year, the ABC board invites a prominent Australian to present a series of radio lectures, expressing their thoughts on major social, cultural, scientific or political issues.

In 2011 the 52nd Boyer Lectures were delivered by Geraldine Brooks, an Australian author and newspaper journalist currently living in the USA. Her set of lectures, The Idea of Home, discuss the concept and definition of home and how it may differ from conventional views, and how her life as a journalist and war correspondent has changed her own perceptions on the place - and lifestyle - that gives her a sense of home.
