I am no fan of Rumsfeld or Wolfowitz, but they did answer questions posed to them forthrightly. Generally, their answers were then disassembled and mischaracterized for political grandstanding by the Commissioners posing follow-up questions or assessments.
Most Commissioners would perfunctorily acknowledge their vision was 20/20 hindsight, but one couldn't tell from their snide questions and observations.
It will be difficult for me to listen to more of the hearings if this is what the general tone of them are. Perhaps any closed-door discussions would be free of the acrimony and get down to the business of protecting our Nation.
Many thanks to Audible for their high-minded civics.
I was very pleased to find these hearings available on Audible. They are of vital interest to all who would like to see government operate in a more efficient, cooperative manner. The lag time between the time one administration leaves and the other truly takes power is too long.
Every person interviewed has something revealing to say. There is plenty of blame to go around-Clinton was weakened by his Oval Office escapades and Bush came into office distrusting info passed on by the Clintonites and ineffectively dealt with all warnings and alarms that were out there. Iraq was on the table from the time he came into office.
Thank you Audible.com for providing these sessions
for your customers at no charge.I will listen to them all.
And Thank You Donald Rumsfeld....
Interesting to listen to. Interesting to see how Rumsfeld testifies in his own words for this major event, and gives you insight into Pentagon's inner workings.
Rumsfeld is an articulate and motivational speaker. His integrity and leadership is unquestionable, and he is an outstanding asset to the United States. His speech is super.
In this recording, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld gives a statement to the 9/11 commission and answers questions from the panel. I will leave it to the listener to determine their own opinion of Rumsfeld, but he seems to provide sincere responses to the various members of the 9/11 commission. If you're not interested in politics, you may find this somewhat boring. if you are interested in the subject matter, however, you will enjoy some of the exchanges between Rumsfeld and his questioners.
