    "Grateful For This Service"

The biggest reason that I subscribe to audible is to stay in touch with the world in a foreign country where I do not speak the language. Though I will reserve my judgement of the candidates I will say that the quality of the sound, and its cost both make this an invaluable service provided by audible. As to the candidates, I believe every American she actively listen to all debates and vote accordingly.

    "Good Stuff"

Working in the service industry, I was disappointed I had a shift to work during the debates, but I was pleased to see that Audible was offering the audio of the debate for free. If you missed it, and you care about your country, you will listen for yourself, and make your decisions based not on the slanted viewpoints of the big media outlets, or hostile attacks made by people who's interests are served more by one canidate, but on what each canidate has to say about the real important issues to this nation.

The focus in this debate was Foreign Policy and Homeland Security. Each canidate offers their viewpoints in a very fair manner. There was no Sensationalistic outpouring, just the two men, a moderator, and the timer. Pretty cut and dry, but it should be a requirement of every citizen of this nation to expose themselves to this and other resources in order to better prepare themselves for what could be one of the most important elections in this nation's history.

    "Solid & Substantive"

A surprisingly solid and lucid exchange without the spin and personal attacks so common to the genre. Jim Lehrer does an excellent job as moderator and both men are as cogent as anyone would want. Very much worth listening to again. Exceeded my expectations.

"Everyone should give this a listen"

Up front, yes, I'm a Bush supporter and a staunch Republican. I wasn't able to see the debate so I was overjoyed when Audible offered the debate (and all future debates) and for FREE!

Well, I was quite embarrassed to hear how Bush evidently did not prepare for the debate and seemed to "shoot from the hip" on everything and was so repetitive in his answers that he was tedious and boring. Kerry was well prepared and while he gave the typical political and non-detailing answers, he appeared to be the clear winner of the debate...even though he did glaringly contradict himself at least once during the debate which left me pretty uneasy about how he would react to anything under constant pressure as a President of the United States.

The sound is extemely good and both candidates are very easy to understand.

I would highly recommend this for all to listen to who did or did not miss the first debate.

    "Better seen on tv"

Nice to listen to but I think you get a better understanding and better perspective on the debate if you watch it instead. However, if you don't have time to watch it, I recommend listening to it.

The spin both camps put on the debate make it hard to understand what really happened.

"One of the best in 40 yrs."

Well moderated by Jim Lehrer though with an obvious focus on Iraq and the "War on Terror". Shows a fumbling and unprepared President Bush trying to salvage the day against a poised and direct Senator Kerry. There are points here for Republicans and Democrats alike. Recommend giving this a listen...even if you saw the debate when it aired.

    "Predictions Come True"

Amazingly, reviewer Kathy's predictions have come true! I'm saving this debate for future generations to listen to, and in the hopes that history does not have to repeat itself.

    "Kerry?"

John Kerry totally won this debate. I'm for John Kerry all the way this election. I don't like George and the way he repeats every thing 500 times. I hate to say this but my prediction for the 2004 election is that Bush is going to win. John Kerry isn't popular enough to win, unfortunetly. But soon after Bush wins he is going to be the most hated president that The United States has ever had.

    "You decide..."

Is it possible that people that live in the United States, STILL, do not understand the importance of voting. I am almost embarrased for those who favor bush (yes I lowercased it for a reason), and admit it. I just hope that all of the Republicans with fair minds, listen to this debate and allow it to open their eyes to the real problem in our country...The current president.
