Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

Best Swedish course

Pimsleur's Swedish is the best Swedish course I've seen so far. There's little point in bringing up some random words without revising them, like in many courses, On the other hand, active repetition of the vocabulary that is present in the course seems pretty effective.

Superb!

Enjoyed it! Pronunciation could've been a bit slower or my hearing could've been better. 😁

Excellent excellent excellent!

This is really enjoyable and helps you really speak the language correctly so that natives understand you perfectly.

The perfect tool to learn w/o a native speaker

I was skeptical about the pimsleur method, since learning a language as an adult can seem so difficult. After completing the first 30 minute lesson, I already felt like I was speaking way better than I ever had from taking lessons from a native speaker and friend of mine. The learning curve and words are very practical and linear, so everything you learn reinforces your fundamentals and builds logically until you're stringing together useful sentences at an intermediate level. Of course having some written exercises to work out will be the next step, so I will look into getting a basic book of swedish. No complaints here about this method!

useful supplement to other courses

Not many words are introduced, but other apps use text-to-speech. Native speakers are useful in learning what letters to say and what not to say.

Not worth it.

The amount of vocab covered is profoundly small, especially for the price/credit. The first quarter of duolingo's swedish course is significantly more substantial, and that's free. Not worth it. Not only do you not get much vocab the course also gleefully ignores the written aspect of language learning. As much as Pimsleur's method is hyped up by the intro, this really has nothing impressive to offer.

I'm loving their German series but not this one

The audio quality of the Swedish speakers is of poor quality and it is difficult to understand the unique sounds of the language. I have tested it on several different speaker systems to make sure it wasn't on my end (air pods, bose sport, car speakers, computer speakers).
