Excellent

This is one of the best ways to learn a language. I have several other Greek teaching tools, but this is by far the best. The phrasing is short enough to allow you to repeat the phrases. There is plenty of repetition without boredom. The phrases are useful ones, in the order you might use them. The book contains the Greek characters, as well as the phonetic spelling, so you can learn to identify some words as they appear in Greek.

The use of music to anchor the language learning is superb.

Clear and helpful

Rapid Greek, Volume 1 supplies the listener with a limited vocabulary but with enough stock phrases that you can go from here to there, shop and order at a restaurant. The repetitive format is conducive to learning and the native speaker's diction is clear and unhurried. The integrated background music can be annoying at times but does not detract from hearing the greek phrases. You will now need to supplant your learned sentences with additional vocabulary from another source to get much further than an introduction.

It's Good

I liked this method, although I had to refer to the booklet a lot to decipher exactly what was being said. I found that these phrases really stuck. When I got to Greece I recognized words I heard and could actually remember how to say things. That was with just a couple weeks of listening.

This method worked better than other attempts I've made at picking up other languages for travel.

Great for some basics

Ok, you’re not going to become fluent with these but it’s a fun way to learn quite a few basic expressions. It’s got a nice back beat, great to listen to while cleaning or taking a walk. You will definitely have to get other sources if you want to learn anything more advanced. This is VERY basic but even though I’ve been studying Greek for quite awhile, I found it a great review of some of the most common expressions. The format actually does help with pronunciation and retention of those expressions. The narrators are casual and pleasant to listen to. I really enjoy these two brief audiobooks to review frequently used words and expressions. I’ve listened to both many times, and I really wish they’d release more of them.

OK but...

It is useful and pleasant enough to listen to.
But Greek is Indo-European and not eg. Japanese, so more basic language building blocks should be covered in a volume.
Indeed Rapid Japanese is soooo much better.
The biggest disappointment is the pdf with horrible English-based pronunciation guidance. The IPA should be used in the first place, and the English “subtitles” to it maybe added for those for whom IPA is too much. I am sure many more people would appreciate it than not.

English-based pronunciation guidance hugely contributes to the perpetuation of the problem of majority of native English speakers apparently being unable to pronounce any foreign language properly, always forcing it into their native phonetic models.

Very helpful

Earworms method is great. After listening to volume one only once I had retained so many of the phrases. They repeat, speak slowly and normally to help you hear the words. After listening to this a few times I tried a few phrases on my boyfriend and his family (all Greek) and they were so impressed not just that I had learned some basics but my pronunciations. I will certainly buy more volumes.

Incorrect pronounciation, irritating music

There are mistakes all over the booklet! This lesson provides a booklet using the incorrect pronounciation. Example - some words used "d" instead of "t". 3 is pronouced as "tria" and the booklet says to pronounce it as "dria". My husband is greek and started laughing when he saw this. DO NOT BUY THIS!
