Find the book online so you can follow along. The vocabulary words are bolded in the dialogue. Their definitions are included at the end of each chapter. I recommend adding them to a vocabulary list like the one found in dict.cc to quiz you. Viel Glück!
The narration matches the text in the ebook (also available in paperback). Each chapter is short, entertaining, and easy for a beginner. Mr. Klein is listed as the narrator, so you're hearing a native speaker read German. There are helpful (and non-instrusive) sound effects to accompany parts of the text. For instance, you might hear a crowd cheering when the text is about soccer. It never drowns out the narration. The narration is read very slowly, not at normal speed. This is helpful, but it would be even more helpful if the Audible book contained two parts, with the second part containing the narration read at normal speed.
I don't think there is anything quite like this book or this series. They are very professionally done and the prices are extremely reasonable. You can listen while you're reading, or you can listen without the printed text, to test your listening comprehension.
He reads with enough expression to make it interesting, but not over-the-top, which would interfere with the story.
No, it's not intended for that.
I've read and re-read the ebook versions of Mr. Klein's books, and the Audible version is a worthwhile addition. I would like it if the narration were read a second time at a much faster speed. This would only add about 20-30 minutes to the audiobook and it would not be necessary to include the sound effects, so it shouldn't be hard to do. I am looking forward to Audible versions of Mr. Klein's other books.
I've been refreshing my rusty German hearing understanding and found this to be of great help. I would recommend it to advanced beginners who have a grasp of basic vocab already.
I highly recommend purchasing this audio file and use it with the book. My German comprehension has improved so much, I plan to buy the entire series through kindle and the audio files. My tips are to read a story first without the audio, then read with the audio, then read one more time but this time look up the words you do not know, then finally read through a fourth time with the audio. Do these steps for each story and you will be amazed at how much vocabulary you will remember.
Easy to read and just the right amount of humor to make it enjoyable.
Multikulti story was my favorite.
No, just happy that it is helping me to comprehend German better.
It's lovely to be able to listen to a story in German and understand it. Thank you! I hope you are going to release the whole series. Btw, even though I bought the Kindle books, it doesn't suggest or link the audio book to the Kindle one. I had to find it in the audio book section independently.
I have the book, but haven't read it all yet. My approach has been to listen to Mr Klein's recording so that when I read the book I will be able to imagine how it should sound as I read it. Some might find his pronunciation slow, but he is trying to meet the needs of absolute beginners learning German and I found it clear and easily followable.
I have no hesitation in recommending it to early learners of German.
what a great learning tool! the audio is purposely slow and clear to help with understanding. if i run into a word i dont know...i can pause and then use google translate to quickly learn it.
"Thank you Andre"
The best learning aid I've ever come across. Fun, engaging, good flow and rhythm. Would recommend for anyone willing to invest the time and effort to embark on a language learning adventure.
The world becomes your playground.
Fantastic approach to learning German. I have already purchased the 2nd one Ferien in Frankfurt- More please!
"Good for Berginners"
This book is great for people who are just beginning to learn German.
It has humour, and the plot is well suited to somebody learning German.
Hearing dialogue is vital to language learning. I read the physical book first then listened (many times) to the audiobook it in order to "train my ear" for German. Then I re-read it aloud to practice pronunciation. It is the best extracurricular tool I have come across so far and I use a lot of internet/audiobooks etc...
This is for beginners, it may be too easy or slow if you can understand normal paced conversation. The dialogue is deliberately slow. Fantastic if you need that but may be off putting if you don't.
"Excellent value !"
Found it really useful. Very good value. Look forward to more narratiion from Andre .
