Critic reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

The Audible.com presentation needs some work

This Pimsleur series is outstanding, but pricey.

The problem with audible.com's delivery of these five lessons is that they show up as a single track, a single .mp3 file. This makes listening to them a chore. It should be possible not only to skip to a different lesson, but to skip to parts of a lesson. For example, each lesson ends with about 5 minutes of a workbook exercise. I want to skip this part as I can't do it in the car. But the single track prevents me from skipping it.

Burning it to a CD from iTunes doesn't really help: it breaks the five lessons into several sections, but it breaks them by time. So the start of a particular lesson is always in the middle of a track. When you advance to the next track, you can't tell if you're in the same lesson or the next lesson.

Conversations as early as Unit 5

By the time I got to Unit 5 I was able to have real life conversations with Native Italians.
This is one of the best language learning programs I have encountered.
On the downside, the format of the recording has the units grouped as one entire recording. This presents some difficulty depending on what program you're listening to the book on. i.e. one is unable to skip between chapters randomly.
When using the Audible App on iPad it isn't an issue, but if using iTunes on my Mac it is a challenge.

malto bene

Would you listen to Italian Phase 1, Unit 11-15 again? Why?

started with the first 1-5, then 6-10, and I am now am almost done this one. I thinks it's amazing how much I've learned already. I will be continuing to the next book with confidence and excitement

What was one of the most memorable moments of Italian Phase 1, Unit 11-15?

It [the order of units] progresses amazing as well

Any additional comments?

I would like the document of words we are asked to follow along reading a loud. I feel like that is my only complaint :(

Molto fast...

This is quite good, but the speakers speak very fast, and pause to figure out what we are supposed to say is not very long. Pause is my friend. Will repeat these units several times, but it is still quite good.

Easy to learn!

The way the chapters are broken out really makes it easy to follow. Click on the chapter to listen again and practice. You get to where the whole conversations make sense, not just a word or two!

Easy to learn

Clear and easy to follow. I love Pimsleur method. It’s the best way to learn a language outside of a school.

Great way to learn Italian

a great way to learn Italian while out and about. It is great to be able to hear how to pronounce the words correctly.

Quickly learning Italian

Learning by listening to and repeating conversations is working well for me! The lessons build on one another in an effective way to retain what you've learned so far, while adding new vocabulary.

Quick and easy

Quick lessons in Italian that are practical to use. These are words that you will use in greeting people, in restaurant, asking directions, etc. I used this driving in my car. It was fun to do (and no -one else could hear me practicing :-)). The down side is there is no book so you cannot "read" along with the speaker, and it is hard to skip those chapters since it is not organized by chapters.
