Pimsleur® equals success. Just one 30-minute lesson a day gets you speaking and understanding like no other program. German Phase 1, Units 11-15 build on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak German. These units contain Reading Lessons designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)
I have taken 12 units of German and lived in Germany for three years and this is one of the best methods of learning German I have experienced. This is an amazing way to learn a language.
My only concern is that starting in lesson 15, and forward, you are instructed to read the written material that comes with the program. However, Audible does not include the material and there is no wispersync available.
It really works. It is amazing, but true. I follow the instructions and I remember the words and expressions. I'm through phase 1, and although it's pricey (1 credit for 5 lessons) I plan to continue because i see the results. Even my 10 y.o. wants to learn. I listen in the car, but later at home I do some additional exercises or listen to the German broadcasts. I have learned (apart from English) Russian and French at school, but this method is by far more effective.
It is a relaxing time, I just focus on learning German for 30 min. I make tea and fold origami cranes or crochet while listening.
How to pick up chicks in Germany.
I would like to hear more words for things to drink, such as water, tea, coffee, etc.
I have drilled using this course for about a year. I am moving to Germany for an 18 mos. volunteer program beginning January 2015. This program has prepared me for that move.
Some have noted that the "printed material is not included." Well, it is !! it is on a downloadable PDF. BUT when you get the PDF you may not know you have what you need. If you are on a Mac it is one of those rare PDFs that MUST be opened with Adobe Reader, first. After that you can extract the actual booklet you need and it will open normally with Preview or on portable IOS devices.
