After many years of developing and harnessing her language-teaching skills with The French Ecole, Alexa has now created an audio treat for people who wish to learn a new language from scratch, without any pressure, in fun, relaxed, and manageable chunks.
Highlights of Lesson 1 include: an introduction to the class format and some basic vocabulary; how to say how you are and where you live; talking about the weather; a small quiz; and a French song.

Have a renewed interest in books after falling in love with audio books. I am listening to all different genres and exploring different authors.
For the price - you can't beat this brief first lesson. The speaker is clear and articulate and explains the words well. The only recommendation I have is to allow a longer pause or space so one can practice the words. Overall, I enjoyed and will look into other lessons.
I downloaded Alexa's 5 free audios and like them. At first, she may appear to be random as was noted by an earlier comment; however, her teaching makes progress. She moves a little more slowly and presents French in smaller bites, than do some other teachers. But she makes learning fun and makes her listener feel as if he/she isn't even working at learing French.
As for the previous comment about there being so much English: He's right; Lesson 1 has mostly English and little French. It's all about making the learner comfortable and to not feel intimidated by a foreign language. She goal is to take the foreign out of learning a new language. As Alexa progresses, she gradually uses more French, until there is little, or no, English.
I've completed her first four lessons and look forward to further pleasant, French learning experiences with Alexa.
Estate planning lawyer and mom to two boys. My older son liked audiobooks as an infant, and I've listened to a lot since then.
This sample has made me search out her other installments. I very much enjoyed it; found it relaxing and educational. I'm brushing up on a prior knowledge of French so if the basic stuff is too dry, I tune out. But I didn't have that problem here.
This is a lovely laid back tutorial that takes you step by step through the very basic first words in French. Your name, where you live, are you well. What's the weather? Alexa reminds us we have all the time in the world to learn French, and then goes on to prove how much we already know.
Ugh. Hers a few words you WON'T be learning..... Soap, deodorant, toothpaste. Also, no French words for bravery, backbone, or testosterone. Just a bunch of silly phrases in random order.... PASS !!!!
Tr?s Bien!!! I have tried many, many French lessons, but this is by far, the best out there! The lessons are easily understood, the teacher is very friendly and encouraging, there is review and quizzing during the lesson and even PDF files for you to use for studying! I?m extremely impressed! I?ll be permanently subscribed!!!
I have tried many audio courses and lessons over the years, but Alexa's is simply the best. Her blend of French and English in bitesized chunks is just perfect for learning. I have learnt so much and have enjoyed every moment. I'm up to lesson 26 right now and do hope that you will continue to produce them. Well done!
"Good for Beginners"
This is a good audiobook for anyone who is a beginner and would like to learn some French for holidaying.
So I downloaded (the, admittedly, free) lessons and was really impressed.
Like many, I was forcibly educated in French in high school but can't remember much enthusiasm or fun from my teachers. This, however, is different...
Give it a go. There are a few free lessons to get your teeth stuck into.
I found it breezy, enjoyable, and even cheeky.
I would also recommend the Berlitz Earworms series (conversational and set to music).
