Pimsleur® equals success. Just one 30-minute lesson a day gets you speaking and understanding like no other program. French Phase 1, Units 11-15 build on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak French. These units contain Reading Lessons designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)
This is an excellent program that you can do whilst doing other stuff. Therefore it doesn't require a heap of dedication to make time to learn French. Just press play while you making dinner or in the shower etc. and your learning a new language. Highly recommended.
I've been listening to Pimsleur language courses for a few years now. They're perfect during my commute to/from work. I really like them.
The Pimsleur courses are highly formulaic - and the formula works for me. This series focuses on pronunciation, and lets you learn the grammar more inductively, through use, rather than front loading the rules. I listen to them in my car and so have never used the accompanying workbooks. I use them to prepare for travel and they have served me well. I've used the courses in Turkish, Japanese, Dutch, German, Polish, Arabic, and now am working my way through French. This course seems easier - but that may be because I took French in college a million years ago. Like the others at a similar stage, these units (11-15) have you arguing about time of day and doing simple arithmetic in French (quickly) in order to practice with numbers and conversational form at the same time. Seems like helpful preparation for making purchases in French.
If they had taken out the lessons that have you simply repeat words you read from a book you haven't ordered.
It's misleading to sell this as an audiobook without saying that some of the lessons aren't really lessons per se. So, when you are buying 5 lessons, you are really only getting 3 or 4 because 1 or 2 are simply pronunciation lessons having you read (while driving?) from a book (that I didn't have!)
The readers are fine
This is really way too expensive for what you get.
"Not a bad course"
These are the more advanced Units of Phase 1, it follows on from Unit 10. The course, like the previous units, tends to provide a sentence, and then breaks down all the words in the sentence, and the pronunciations for the words. As I mentioned in the title, not a bad course and I'd recommend it to help supplement French learning. As a side note most of the Pimsleur course seem to follow the same learning approach and if you like one of the other language programs you'll probably like this one.
