"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)
Traveler. Artist. Dreamer.
It makes you repeat the phases and makes you think since the narrator will ask you to say phases in different ways. I tried other programs and so far this is the best. It also focuses on phases that are important to start with. Lastly and most importantly, it helps you learn how to say things correctly because each syllable is broken down and you are supposed to sound out then out (on certain words). They point out things that are not so obvious to the
This book has been delightfully helpful in learning how to speak and retain conversational french language skills. I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn how to speak another language.

I'm really enjoying this program for learning French. I have some basic French, so the first units are mostly review for me. But they are well done and short enough that I can always find 1/2 hour a day to keep up with it.
Is perfect for anyone wanting to learn a new language on their own.
I get these moments where I can't go by without an audiobook! I am irrevocably in love with books!
The Pimsleur method really works.
I am in love with this course, because IT DELIVERS.
Not only does it help you understand and speak phrases in French, it also develops your ability to make your own sentences and understand what they mean. This books teaches you a new language and perfectly selects the stuff that you actually need to know and learn.
As I talk to people who are native speakers or who speak the language fluently, I can actually ask certain questions or have a chat with them.
I have been through the first 10 units of 'Phase 1' and I already am noticing progress in my learning and speaking skills that others notice too.
I wonder how much better my speaking will get as my learning progresses!
People who want mind-numbing repetition that grinds along at a glacial pace.
Not spending the first twenty minutes of the book listening all about the brilliance of the author would have been an improvement
"excelent course, a true way to learn!"
A brilliant course for both beginners or like me someone with background knowledge already. The timing and layout makes the language stock in your memory and easy to recall then link words you've learned with other sentences.
The theory behind its structure is explained at the beginning and makes sense. My brother has learnt Chinese mandarin though pimsleur and highly recommended it. Can't praise this enough, I want to listen everyday, its great!
This is a really good french course: it does work. I started to learn german with pimslaur first, and experiencing surprising success I also bought the first few of the french course. It goes a bit slower for me than the german, but I studied german at school years ago so I gues that helpes with that.. I go quite slowly with french but I notice that it is getting easier and the words and sentences just stick on me after a while. I think this learning program worths its price and it is really effective. I would surely recommend it to friends in the future (as I already did in the past).
"Not a bad course"
Like any of the language courses, you get out what you put in, it's not easy but the course takes a slow easy learning approach. Follow the plan and you'll start to learn. The course tends to provide a sentence, and then breaks down all the words in the sentence, and the pronunciations for the words. As I mentioned in the title, not a bad course and I'd recommend it to help supplement French learning. As a side note most of the Pimsleur course seem to follow the same learning approach. I've tried the Swedish one previously. If you like one of the other Pimsleur courses you'll probably like this one.
