I had no prior knowledge of German, and found that with this audiobook I was able to learn German. I would recommend buying the companion paper book published by Living Language (Ultimate German: Beginner-Intermediate by Lasting & Singer). Between listenting to each 10-minute chapter twice a day for 4 to 7 days, and reading the chapter once in that time, I was able to learn the lessons! I would highly recommend this to someone who wants to learn German without taking a class.
I find All-Audio German to be very well done: well-organized, well-executed, entertaining, and very informative. It could be a bit difficult for someone entirely new to German. But, to someone who has a rudimentary understanding of the language and its grammar, I find it to be an excellent source for learning on the go!
This book is as good as any other I've tried to use to get a grasp on the German language. It teaches words, phrases and word useage. The drawback with this and any foreign language audio book is that it cannot teach you how to read or write the language. This is a good start though.
"Not really for beginners!"
For the last 9 months I have been learning German using everything I can find on Audible to help me, as well as grammar books and the BBC web courses. By trial and error, I found the following progression of Audible's German titles worked best for me: Earworms German, Pimsleur's German, The series - Learn in your Car German and the series - The Idiot's Guide to German. However, I bought this audiobook (All Audio German) too early and sadly found it moved forward too quickly without enough practice and consolidation of new phrases. Now that I have completed the other audio courses and therefore much improved my German speaking and understanding, I have returned to this audiobook and am finding it much more useful.
"AL-Audio German basic -interrmediate"
I have just started to learn German and I have found that this book flies through the work at a fast steady pace. It is easy to listen to and has good clear examples of German language by the narrators, but it fails to completely bowl me over as I am left somewhat confused due the the lack of explaination of some words. I have not listened to the whole book yet and I feel a bit swamped already. I presume the object seems to be for the listener/learner to be encouraged to figure out certain points themselves. Not entirely convinced it is helpful to basic learners yet... we'll see.
