I do not recommend this. not as helpful as I hoped

The author raves about expanding vocabulary, but doesn't do much to educate you on the words she quickly lists and moves on from. Not to mention all the basic words such as las, los, un, and una are counted among these 2000 words to "expand" your vocabulary, and they aren't even represented together, but words away from each other. This wasn't what I was expecting at all, as I assumed that each new vocabulary word would be taught as in "here's a new word, here are the different conjugations or tenses of this word, and this is how to use it properly in a sentence. I don't recommend this book at all for actually vocabulary expansion. There has to be something better out there. If you don't already know the words los, las, que, de, and these many basic words you learn first, then the book will overwhelm you anyway as she doesn't give good explanation and uses lengthy complex sentences to "use them in a sentence". (lengthy complex sentences in Spanish using all words not mentioned or explained yet, so if you are just learning los and las, the "context" will be lost on you since she says the spanish sentence twice before the english translation ONCE before moving on to the next word.) So, this is a really useless book. If you know enough to understand, you don't need someone to tell you most of the words, if you need to know the words, they are not explained or demonstrated in a useful manner.

Original concept in learning a language.

In learning a new language a variety of tools are required. The approach used in this Audio book is a
unique way to begin to have a command of a language in this case Spanish.

In my view the best way is being in a Country or with a group that speak the language you wish to learn is the superior way to learn any language. But this concept can certainly help anyone who wishes to learn Spanish.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Terrible

Worst audiobook I've ever purchased. It sounds like a great thing to hear and learn 2000 words, but this book is not what it seems. First of all, many of the same words are repeated a number of times. Not just different conjugations, but the exact same word itself! I'd say if you boiled it down there are really only 1500 different words. Well, maybe you like repetition, but I don't think it was intentional because it needs a lot of editing...there were tons of errors, incorrect translations, forgotten parts of each word routine, etc. Worst of all however, almost every sentence in the book was extremely negative and vulgar. I'm not opposed to learning a few curse words, but I was shocked it wasn't rated that way because there were a ton. The negativity is pretty exhausting...I literally yelled out in my car "what in the world!?!?" Or some variety of that multiple times because of how awful some of the sentences were... (Eg "the boy on the next block over has died," "I am going to kill that man for what he did" etc etc.) I was blown away by how bad it was and how this book actually had positive reviews. I would not recommend wasting your time on this audiobook, or anything else by this author.

A MUST HAVE BOOK FOR SPANISH LEARNERS!

What made the experience of listening to 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery) the most enjoyable?

The resources provided with this book are amazing if you are truly looking to become fluent in Spanish. If you know all the 2000 words in this book, you will pretty much be able to be a part of any conversational dialogue with a native. The audiobook comes with a PDF so you can read all the phrases at the same time as you listen to it. I find this to be the absolute best way to learn a language.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery)?

The book is a giant list of phrases so it's not that kind of book when it comes to "memorable moments" but I will say that making it a habit to listen and learn 50 words a day has been working like a charm.

Have you listened to any of Mariela Arredondo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First one but she does an amazing job. Her English and Spanish are perfect and she keeps a steady tone during the whole book.

Any additional comments?

I can't recommend this book enough! The fact that you get a PDF to read while you listen is awesome. Practice reading comprehension and listening comprehension at the same time really is the best way to learn.

Language learning backwards

Proposed as learning language "in context", such would be true if one already spoke Spanish or if in addition to the audio, the student in addition had access to a dictionary and a computer. There are certainly ways that audio learning without visual or cognitive reference can work, this offering is not of such ilk. With a computer and the downloaded PDF, this audiobook does provide an adequate language learning format; without these adjuncts, it is functionally near worthless.

A great refresher!

This was great for someone like myself, whose Spanish was a little rusty! The narrator has a strong, clear voice and the recording quality is great. The only thing I suggest if you're having trouble following - turn the speed down a little. Perhaps pause after each phrase to give you time to repeat it - she goes fast! I certainly recommend this as a great learning tool.

Finally a book I can learn with 👏

I feel confident this type of book can successfully teach me Spanish. Learning all these phrases in one sitting would be impossible, so this is good one to listen to repeatedly. I know the repetitive listening is helping me retain the several words and phrases. I may not become fluent, but at least I'll be able to communicate better. Out of the various methods I've tried this one is easier for me personally.
Mariela has done a great job of narrating. I did turn the speed down to make it easier for me to follow. Other than that, her clear speech was easy understand. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to communicate in Spanish without the fluff other book's wasted my time with. I was given this book at my request and have voluntarily decided to leave this review.

Non-native Spanish pronunciation

There should be a different flag on the book, the pronunciation of the performer is South American, not Spanish/Castellano.

Unique idea!

What made the experience of listening to 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery) the most enjoyable?

The fact that there was an accompanying PDF to this Audible book made it such an amazing resource. I think reading and listening to a book like this at the same time is one of the most effective ways to language learning. Just get the book and the PDF will be available in your Audible library. This was very new to me and it was an amazing surprise!

What was one of the most memorable moments of 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery)?

The statistics the author provided were basically that if you know these 2000 words, you will understand 84% of Spanish conversations. That is amazing!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is more of a book you break up into several study sessions. Personally, I like to break it into 25-50 new words per session.

Any additional comments?

I was provided with a free copy for my honest review of this book. This has not affected the rating of this book what so ever.
