Una città in cui per sopravvivere si sono divisi in gruppi: Gropiusstadt, Havel, Reichstag, Tegel, Zoo.
Nonostante le lotte e le rivalità, però, tutti loro hanno qualcosa in comune: il virus che alla fine dell'adolescenza se li porterà via, come se crescere fosse una condanna. E il virus non è l'unico pericolo. C'è una creatura misteriosa che si aggira per le strade, sbrana e uccide animali e ragazzi, e poi scompare, quasi fosse invisibile. Soltanto alleandosi è possibile scoprire chi è e difendersi. Ma nella Berlino che non è più Berlino, è meglio affrontare la minaccia da soli o allearsi con il nemico? Pensò che la gente, quando è in pericolo, diventa egoista. E che l'egoismo è come legna per il fuoco. E che il fuoco, alla fine, brucia tutto.
