Publisher's summary

In the latest audiobook in the multimillion-selling Killing Series, Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard tell the larger-than-life stories of Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and Muhammad Ali.

The King is dead. The Walrus is shot. The Greatest is no more.

Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and Muhammad Ali. These three icons changed not only the worlds of music, film, and sports, but the world itself. Their faces were known everywhere, in every nation, across every culture. And their stories became larger than life—until their lives spun out of control at the hands of those they most trusted.

In Killing the Legends, Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard explore the lives, legacies, and tragic deaths of three of the most famous people of the 20th century. Each experienced immense success, then failures that forced them to change; each faced the challenge of growing old in fields that privilege youth; and finally, each became isolated, cocooned by wealth but vulnerable to the demands of those in their innermost circles.

Dramatic, insightful, and immensely entertaining, Killing the Legends is the twelfth title in O’Reilly and Dugard’s Killing series: the most popular series of narrative history in the world, with more than 18 million copies in print.

Hard to stop listening...

A very interesting insight into the darker side of fame. Intriguing stories of 3 famous men who were pushed by others for impure motives.

Interesting and captivating

Performance was very good and easy to listen to. As will at the O’Reilly books the story is wonderfully told.

Very Interesting

Like all books in the Killing series, this one is well-researched and well written. However, also like the others, it should be read and not heard. The constant footnote/end footnote interruptions are distracting and annoying.

One of O’Reilly‘s best killing books

I returned some of his other killing books, but not this one. It was very good.

Fabulous!

Once again both men did great research and brought together some great information about each man. Much on Elvis and John I had no idea about. And there was information about Muhammad Ali that I did not know.
I felt so bad for all of them because people around them took such advantage of each of them with no regard for men or their health!

Thank you once again. Well done!

Great job! Details are great!

These stories are largely known but this book has more detail that even the biggest fan doesn’t know. Sad to see these legends fall.

Same as It Ever Was

Being legend isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. The three men who are portrayed in this book were just as human as you or I. Elvis’ story was the saddest. A very humble man taken advantage by a corrupt and dishonest Col. Parker. John Lennon’s story didn’t surprise me. Mohammed Ali made the sport of boxing as much of entertainment as its brutality of commitment of being the Greatest. His fight with Frazier in Manila was hard to compare the brutality of two men trained to seriously kill each other.
The book is a good read. Not the best of the Killing series, but if you have an extra credit. Then by all means listen.

Very interesting backstory of Legends we thought we knew

I really like learning the life’s of Elvis, Lennon and Ali from this book. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of their lives until reading this book. It’s an eye opener in learning about their lives. It’s amazing to me that 2 of the 3 were so strapped for cash during periods of their lives though they were making a lot of money. The primary culprit to this was excess spending and the reliance’s on their “trusted” managers. This cash crisis lead to their demise.
The writing style of the book was fantastic as well as the narration. I was so interested in what the book was saying that I would go on YouTube to see a video of what the book was describing.
