Publisher's summary

"How about a story? Spin us a yarn."
Instantly, Phoebe Winterbottom came to mind.
"I could tell you an extensively strange story," I warned. "Oh, good!" Gram said. "Delicious!"
And that is how I happened to tell them about Phoebe, her disappearing mother, and the lunatic.

In her own award-winning style, Sharon Creech intricately weaves together two tales, one funny, one bittersweet, to create a heartwarming, compelling, and utterly moving story of love, loss, and the complexity of human emotion.

Yes, it’s Newberry worthy

It took a long time to clarify that though. The comic relief friend Phoebe was tiresomely silly, and the Gramps was played like maybe someone from Beverly Hillbillies. Still, by the end a great many good things— though not easy things—have happened. It has a lot of wisdom and all good values. I’m glad my 6th grade grandson is reading it for school.

Beautiful story

Lots of layers and beautiful story telling. I’m going to use this book for one of my reading classes.

I thought the narrator was good too. Highly recommend.

Favorite for almost 30 years!

I remember my 4th grade teacher telling me that I couldn’t only read Babysitters Club, and she handed me this book. It instantly became my favorite chapter book, and remains today! Just shared it with my own two kids, and felt the wonderfulness all over again!

Unexpected storyline

What made the experience of listening to Walk Two Moons the most enjoyable?

Listening with my daughter. She is part of the battle of the books her school does. This was one of many she needs to read.

What did you like best about this story?

Humorous but with a powerful message. Great story for young girls.

A beautiful story

Life is complicated and kids don’t get left out of that. This story is at least 3 stories woven together and we get to watch the protagonist grow and learn and change as she tells us about her life. This isn’t for young kids. My oldest is 9 and she needs a few more years before I think she can understand and interact with the book as it’s intended. There is also a bit of language-southern colloquialisms mostly.

Summer reading

My daughter and I listened to this book as she followed along in her paperback novel. It held my attention and love the author's wit she used to describe characters throughout the book. It was a thought provoking book for a rising 6th grader and a sweet story. The narrator did a great job in keeping us entertained.
