Publisher's summary

Christmas used to be the happiest time of the year in the big house on the hill. But this year when the clock strikes midnight on Christmas Day, it will all be over. Can Sebastian, a wily Maine Coon cat, find a way to bring his people back home or will this holiday be their last?

Even the print version is predictable

Would you try another book from Barbara Bretton and/or Patricia Fructuoso?

Oh, God, no! A simplistic, slapped-together, predictable book that was obviously chucked out in a few weeks with a painful narration

What do you think your next listen will be?

I was looking for a warm Christmas story, and that this one had a cat sold me on it. I was sorely disappointed by the wet hot mess it was. I think I'll go back to "Jacob T. Marley" for my Christmas ya-yas.

Would you be willing to try another one of Patricia Fructuoso’s performances?

Once again—NO! Her inflections were all over the place, and it totally disrupted the rhythm of the story. Her tone is nice, but the delivery was painful. It was as though she were reading to a three-year old, trying to lull the child to sleep, not even trying to convey character, setting, personality, purpose.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Year the Cat Saved Christmas?

The whole thing was plain silly, only the presence of a cat made it tolerable enough to skim through the kindle version that I bought to bring the audible version price down. But listening to the book? Impossible!

Any additional comments?

Not worth even a small sum of money (which, fortunately, is all that I expended on it), and don't even THINK about using a credit on this. Look for the books on Dewey the Library Cat, or A Streetcat Named Bob for good animal stories. And definitely give Jacob T. Marley a listen for Christmas instead. This was just painful!

Christmas Meow

Story held your interest and anyone who has a cat or ever had a cat could understand where this could happen.
Nice to read (listen) something that is enjoyable not full of bad language and things.
