Publisher's summary

This acclaimed story of World War II is rich in suspense, characterization, plot, and spiritual truth. Every element of occupied Holland is united in a story of courage and hope: a hidden Jewish child, an underdiver, a downed RAF pilot, an imaginative, daring underground hero, and the small things of family life which surprisingly carry on in the midst of oppression. The Verhagen family, who live in the old windmill called the Winged Watchman, are a memorable set of individuals whose lives powerfully demonstrate the resilience of those who suffer but do not lose faith.

Beautiful story.

This story is beautiful, captivating, and very well written. It also reminds us that in most difficult times, all we have left is faith, hope and love.

great story about a lesser known area of WWII.

great way to introduce kids to the tragedies and hardships of WWII. I believe it's best for ages 9 and up, although my 7 yo listened too. the children in the story acted courageously and with faith. great listen for the whole family.

It was so good

I thought that it was very good and that when the uncle died and it turned out to be kase Kip I just thought that was the most necessary thing because it just made have so much more detail to it.
