The book came up in my search for "Christmas" books.
I went through the 27 pages of books that came up in response to that search, and added quite a few to my Audible library. I made the mistake of not listening to samples of the books because there were so many books to choose from. In this case, that turned out to be okay.
I enjoyed the story of Count Alucard, attempting to spend Christmas in a fancy hotel in London, being discovered to be a vampire after he runs away from a cheesy salad delivered by room service that has a salad dressing containing a smidgen of garlic, and making his escape. He ends up joining a circus and heading away from London.
His friend, Henry, is eleven. That fact was not mentioned in the summary of the book, so I did not realize I was purchasing a children's book. Thankfully, I enjoy children's books, and often discuss them with some of my young friends to find out what they have been reading recently.
The story of the vampire at the posh hotel in London hits the TV news and Henry sees the report. Henry attempts to go to London to find and help his friend. He is unaware that the Count has left London.
The police continue attempting to hunt down and capture the foul monster with the sharp pointy teeth. They are unaware that Count Alucard is a vegtarian vampire.
The only question left unanswered at the end of the book -- what was really in mom's mince pies?
I enjoyed this book enough to want to go find any others in the series.
