Very entertaining and delightful listen

While on vacation and driving the length of California back up from San Diego I downloaded this book for my family to listen to as we drove the long slog of I5. What a great choice!!! My 5 year old daughter was engrossed by this story and did not speak a peep for 6 hours straight as we drove the last 400 miles from Northern Cali to Washington. My wife was also engrossed and for the first time on that vacation I was able to experience a bit of quiet, the whole family quietly listened to the antics of Ramona and enjoyed her little story.
About the story itself...I never read these books as a child so was unfamiliar with them when I started. Basically this series follows the growth of a precocious little girl, named Ramona, and all her little innocent escapades as she grows up. The first book starts with Ramona age 4 and each subsequent book she is a year older. (well.. at least so far, we have only gotten through 4 books) Nothing huge happens here, no monsters need defeating, no saving the world, just little Ramona trying to learn how to grow up and be a good person. Her trials are things like not being sure her kindergarten teacher likes her, or dealing with the fallout of a bad tantrum. They are small things, but they are told beautifully and I actually think my 5 (soon to be 6) year old daughter enjoyed them all the more because she could so well relate to the feelings (and trials) Ramona was having and experiencing. As adults, my wife and I found the stories endearing and funny as the exploits of Ramona are very familiar to anybody who has had (or has) young children. Ms. Channing’s performance is wonderful, and she really brings to life all the characters. I highly recommend this series for anybody with young children. One thing though, Ms. Cleary sometimes gives away (or almost) the secrets of things like Santa Claus/tooth fairy/etc... Early in this series Ramona loses a tooth and Ms. Cleary alludes to (but does not actually explicitly reveal) Daddy being the actual tooth fairy, that part takes about 2 min....you can easily see it coming and you may want to skip ahead if you want to make sure that you can preserve that little fiction.

I have a six year-old who loves these stories. She routinely loves to retell the stories to me and especially funny parts; so there is good humor in these. I've listened with her and enjoyed the stories. I recommend this series.

Audio warning... this collection does not divide and label the books. There are chapter breaks, but the books run right into each other. It makes it very hard to find an individual book.

Loved it!

I have been listening to this audio collection with my two 8yr old boys and we all loved it. We keep going back to listen to it over and over. The characters are so vivid and such great stories. It is wholesome yet with lots of adventure.

Beverly Cleary has done a fantastic job writing the Ramona Quincy Series! The books are relatable and just remarkable in general! Some people are complaining that Stockard Channing reads too fast and she makes the girls sound weird. I completely disagree! Stockard Channing does a fantastic job with the girls’ voices, and everyone’s voices in general. I think she does especially well with Ramona, Beezus(Beatrice), Willa Jean, and Howie. And all this talk about Stockard Channing talking too fast. I highly disagree! I have sped the narration up to 1.7, and I have gotten completely used to it. To the people who complain that it is too fast or too slow, why don’t you just go and try and read the whole series aloud without stopping, no stutters, and acting like the characters at the same time! All in all, Beverly Cleary did a fantastic job writing the books, and Stockard Channing did a remarkable and outstanding job! I highly suggest that you get the Ramona Quincy Audio Collection.

Ramona is timeless, relatable and likeable

Excellent content and performance. Beverly cleary does an excellent job of sharing the heart and actions of a typical child who is very relatable. I enjoyed these books as a child and now I am enjoying going back to them with my own children and they are just as good as I remember them. Ramona is the young people's champ.

Ramona is funny

My 5 year old says this about the books, "I like that Ramona does funny things, and in the last one, she pulls her baby sister out of the cat condo." This collection is great for the whole family.

Loved it as a kid

I liked these books as a kid and I am excited to be able to share these with my kids. Audible makes it so easy for me to be able to prepare lunch and have this on so my kids can listen to the story on our Echo.

Perfect Stories

Loved the narrator. I downloaded the books for my great-niece. I believe that this Aunt enjoyed the stories,(childhood memories), as much as my niece did.
