The Mystery of Lighthouse Island is a sweet story of 4 little friends--Lucy, Ann, Stan, and Julian, who have adventures on an island in summer of 64 because their home is being renovated after a tree fell on it.
This is such a sweet and positive story and it's made even special because it is set in the 60's and therefore before our age of screens. The story made me whimsical for my days as a young child in the 70's. I didn't have as many adventures, but memories made me visualize this story nicely.
Both have sweet sing-song voices that lended perfectly to this story.
This story would be such a fun kid's movie! I would call it--The many adventures of the fabulous 4.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
"The Fabulous Four know how to enjoy themselves"
I have read and enjoyed the paperback version, and I really love the audio version, as well. I feel both editions have a lot to offer children. In an ideal world, they would have both! .
I liked the way the Fabulous Four worked together! I really enjoyed reading about how they made the discovery and went about their business. The plot was very believable and I liked the children's enthusiastic discussions with Inspector Watson and Lady Glendevon.
This story offers some lovely moments of humour - and the storytelling about the wildlife on the island, was great too!
Cleandra's performance was very good and extremely precise. There are a lot of different characters in this story, and Cleandra met that challenge perfectly. (Oh! - by the way - she certainly knows how to make an owl noise) Great job.
This would have to be the moment when Lucy found Anne distressed and feeling upset in the castle. Lucy was so caring and very considerate with her younger sister. Those were very special moments and made me feel quite emotional.
I can't wait for Book 2 of this children's mystery series. I'm sure it will be entertaining!
