We have a hard time finding books for my five year old who does not like anything with conflict or emotional distress between the characters. Beverly Clearly writes well and handles conflict and emotional distress in a way that teaches, but isn't scary. Everyone in the family enjoyed this listen....the age ranges of the kids span 10 years, so finding a book that everyone enjoys can be difficult. I would recommend this book for anyone with kids. It probably helps that I remember reading and enjoying this book as a child.
My son is 5 and has already listened to this twice. He loves it and I love to see him listening to it so intently and laughing or gasping as he follows the story.
Yes, It's perfect for those who have kids that like to read hard to find popular book from the school Library.
Not so much the story but like how they show you all the books in the series.
No, first time hearing him read, but followed his acting career.
Life is what you make it
I grew up on BC and so I was so excited to see this book for my five year old daughter who loves listening at play time. I was a bit saddened when she didn't like this as much as others, however I figured it was because it was a mouse and not a girl. However, I listened to it and couldn't get into the story myself!! I love BD Wong on SVU and watched him on Awake. I have always found his voice relaxing and enjoyable, but in this story it was too relaxable and the story was a bit flatlined.
I would recommend this for any old fans of the book, and any youg reader looking to try something new. The fantastic story of Ralph and his adventurs are performed well and are still able to bring a smile to my face after many years.
As a childhood reader of all Cleary books, this story has made me want to revisit all of her old works.
This was the first BD Wong performance I've heard, outside of his acting on things like SVU and The Ref. It took a second to place him, and he wasn't who I would have expected, but he did a remarkable job.
My kids are three and five, and aren't generally captivated by lengthy stories, but I plan to play this on our next road trip, when they do seem to last a bit longer with their attention span. Books and audible in general have helped us as a family to avoid DVD players and video games in the car, which is something that I'm quite proud of.
