Publisher's summary

Bobby Pendragon is a seemingly normal 14-year-old boy. He has a family, a home, and even Marley, his beloved dog. But there is something very special about Bobby: he is going to save the world.

And not just Earth as we know it. Bobby is slowly starting to realize that life in the cosmos isn't quite what he thought it was. And before he can object, he is swept off to an alternate dimension known as Denduron, a territory inhabited by strange beings, ruled by a magical tyrant, and plagued by dangerous revolution.

If Bobby wants to see his family again, he's going to have to accept his role as savior and accept it wholeheartedly. Because, as he is about to discover, Denduron is only the beginning.

Great story, meh voices.

The story is fantastic, William Dufris was meh. I could bare it enough to get through the entire story but the whiny and nasal-y voice really doesn't fit Bobby. The female characters should have either been read in a more neutral voice and less of the whispering falsetto of a man or just read out by a woman. Dufris did very well with many other male characters, however. Great book that you should absolutely read or listen to. If you choose to listen, please let yourself get past Bobby's voice and enjoy the story!

Great Story

I first came across the Pendrag series back in middle school in 2006. Still a great read. My only issue is that the guy narrating the story has an abrasive weasely voice and at times it feels as though I am being read to like I were a child.
Story is great enough for me to continue with the audiobook.

A great story and the narrator

very good story and the narrator does his best to give each character a unique voice but some are a little whiny or boring but still I enjoyed everything about this book.

Love the story, but narrator..

I have loved this books since I was a kid, but this narrator made it really hard to listen to at times. I just feel he emoted in the wrong ways at the worst times.

A good read

The first Pendragon books at least were meant for younger readers. The protagonist is 14 (I think.) I was in my 50s when I read the first several, and they were enjoyable, and sort of addicting. I read them first four or five years ago and now that I am listening to books I thought I'd give them another try...maybe finish off the series.
You need to read them in order.
The narrator that some reviewers criticize I think is rather perfect for the series...he is so enthusiastic, so emotional, just like Bobby Pendragon.
These books are non-stop action.
When I was a teenager I read as many Tarzan books as I could get my hands on. Though absolutely nothing in common, these Pendragon books have similar excitement.
I would highly recommend them.
The protagonist is a boy but I certainly do not see any reason why girls would not like these books. There are strong women and girls in them (if that matters) but everyone likes a good, exciting escapism book.
