Publisher's summary

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp.

Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the 21st-century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.

Now Percy has just 10 days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends, one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena, will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed in his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Good book, not great voice actor

This guy puts weird emphasis on words. He makes the dialogue sound worse than it’s written. The voices aren’t great either and he makes the surprise more obvious with the way he voices certain characters

1st Audio book and loved it!!!

I was skeptical because I read a lot of books (silently) and was worried about the narrator, but he was great. We could visualize everything and easily differentiate the characters. The book itself kept us involved and did not disappoint.

Awesome gift!

My mom gives this book the me and my brother as a gift. It was great! I’m on virtual school but, anytime I have free time and I’m not allowed electrical devices I go to this book. The story is picture perfect and I can’t wait to read the next one. And oh BTW I would recommend it’s very cheap for the book only one token.

But, please Audible don’t raise the price I’m a kid I don’t have a lot of money so, I like cheap books😆

Narrator was great

I really liked the narration but honestly some of the voices didn’t fit the characters but considering it was the same person doing all of them it was really good. The voices were funny and I think the narrator did really well. Also I really LOVE these books

Engaging and great beginnings

The narrator did such a good job of conveying what my inner voice would have imagined when reading this book for the first time, it was fully engaging and answered my questions and it’s a thorough start to something brand new because I didn’t know what would be next after completing the Harry Potter series, seems like this is the perfect series to start something new and something exciting. Sea of monsters, here I come!
