Publisher's summary

Orphan, clock keeper, and thief, Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where his survival depends on secrets and anonymity. But when his world suddenly interlocks with an eccentric, bookish girl and a bitter old man who runs a toy booth in the station, Hugo's undercover life and his most precious secret are put in jeopardy. A cryptic drawing, a treasured notebook, a stolen key, a mechanical man, and a hidden message from Hugo's dead father form the backbone of this intricate, tender, and spellbinding mystery.

Definitely a book for young readers

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I love reading young people's stories but this was too young.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The narration left something to be desired. I may have enjoyed it more if it were read by a more experienced narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jeff Woodman’s performances?

I would be willing to try another of Woodman's performances. It maybe that the material read will lend more to being offered.

Was The Invention of Hugo Cabret worth the listening time?

I believe it would be to the young readers.

Enjoyable quick "read" between books

After a few heavy novels I needed something quick and light to "fill the gap". This lived up to just that, I enjoyed it and know the kids will too.
