Story
Growing up, Jena Friedman didn’t care about being likable. And she never wanted to be a comedian, either. She wouldn’t discover her knack for the funny business until research for her college thesis led her to take an improv class in Chicago. That anthropology paper, written on race, class, and gender in the city’s comedy scene, was, in Jena’s own words, “just as funny as it sounds.” But it did lay the groundwork for a career that has seen her write and produce for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Late Show with David Letterman, and the Oscar-nominated Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

Corbin College, not quite upstate New York, winter 1959-1960: Ruben Blum, a Jewish historian—but not an historian of the Jews—is co-opted onto a hiring committee to review the application of an exiled Israeli scholar specializing in the Spanish Inquisition. When Benzion Netanyahu shows up for an interview, family unexpectedly in tow, Blum plays the reluctant host to guests who proceed to lay waste to his American complacencies. Mixing fiction with nonfiction, the campus novel with the lecture, The Netanyahus is a wildly inventive comedy of blending, identity, and politics.

Quaint, sweet and naive
I was very taken with the story of this wonderful book, which can be read and heard by anyone - teenager or grown-up alike. The entire book is very sweet and almost naive, but at the same time, there are both scary characters and children as heroes. The main character, Nobody Owens, is very innocent but at the same time strong and open to all the things. I highly recommend this book - I heard it in one fell swoop and could not bear to press pause. The author is very talented, painting pictures with every word!

Wonderful for both young and old listeners!
Neil Gaiman has just become the benchmark by which all my other narrators will be judged by. The narration in this book is brilliant, the tempo, the rhythm, the timbre, everything about his reading ebbed and flowed with the book. I've never heard a book read with such mastery.
The storyline was excellent, even though it was probably pitched more towards the younger readers, I fully enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to my kids listening to it as well. So many books I've enjoyed have been rather age-specific, but this one has appeal over a large range of ages. My 7 year-old will enjoy this book just as much as I did.

A book by Neil Gaiman
Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors. As I'm sure you have probably heard of Coraline, Stardust, Anansi Boys......are some of his masterpiece. However, The Graveyard Book might be the best book he has ever written so far. The book won the 2009 Newbery award for a reason. I enjoyed it very much myself, as I'm sure most of you would too. By the way, the narrator was Neil Gaiman himself and he did a splendid job of presenting his own work in audio form.

Wonderful
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is the kind of book you don't want to finish. Endearing yet sharp characters, great moments, and the delicious feeling of getting mixed up in a whole new setting, as the dead become allies and friends. Wonderful book. Very well read, too.
