Publisher's summary

Here's a fantastic ghost adventure story, laced with menace and humour.

When a baby escapes a murderer intent on killing the entire family, who would have thought it would find safety and security in the local graveyard?

Brought up by the resident ghosts, ghouls and spectres, Bod has an eccentric childhood learning about life from the dead. But for Bod there is also the danger of the murderer still looking for him - after all, he is the last remaining member of the family.

A stunningly original novel deftly constructed over eight chapters, featuring every second year of Bod's life, from babyhood to adolescence. Will Bod survive to be a man?

Great for adults - an excellent listen!

This is a fun and slightly spooky (but not in a nasty way) book that I really really enjoyed. In fact, my entire house was cleaned while I listened to this (great motivation). I wouldn't give this one to kids under about 10 years old, but it really is a charming book for those who know it is fully fiction. Because it is a young adult book it has one main story, which makes it easy listening. I really recommend this book and will be purchasing others by the same author now.
The narration was so very good that I didn't even notice it and was engrossed in the story. Well done Neil on both the writing and reading!!!!

Fabulous

Any additional comments?

Neil Gainman seems to be a favourite with us Aussies, and why not, I could listen to his voice forever and his marvellous mind always entertains with totally different stories. To have a tale set in a graveyard with an ophaned baby is basically weird! But in the hands of a master storyteller it keeps one enthralled until the end. Totally recommended.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Graveyard Book?

Lots of it but the most memorable was the ending, and I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

What does Neil Gaiman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings great emotion to the charactors.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes kept sitting in the car in the garage so I could listen to the end of a chapter.

Any additional comments?

Excellent!

I didn’t realise this was a book intended for younger readers until I had downloaded it, but as I enjoyed the Harry Potter novels so much I figured I’d give it a shot, the reviews looked good and Neil is highly acclaimed.

What a treasure. I’m so glad I listened. The story grabbed me from the start. Neil can make the fantastical seem real and likely. Highly, highly recommended.

Oh how I have missed these stories

This took me back to my childhood where I’d read fantasy and learn lessons of courage and morality.

Thank you, Neil Gaiman

Death: a poignant perspective on life.

3rd listen as a family. Thoroughly enjoyed each time. I appreciate Gaiman's narratives of people on the margins of society, fallen through the cracks, and the opportunity that that creates for being exactly themselves. For my daughter, the coming of age story and the unreal being real. Also the subtle humour. And read by the author in a voice simultaneously safe, seductive and slightly scary...
