"A classic, perfectly performed by Hugh Laurie."
Every bit as brilliant as the first time I heard it 25 years ago. Hugh Laurie is spot on. It is impossible not to listen from beginning to end.
"The giraffe the pelly and me"
We loved it. Is really good for going to sleep. Amazing story. Very descriptive story.
Ah, Hugh Laurie! He is just perfect for this story. His Duke of Hampshire is up there with his Bertie Wooster and Blackadder roles.
For those who don't know the tale, it is quite a short story but I managed to spin out reading it to my son for about a week of bedtime stories. As a "one-book monthly" subscriber I'm always after the most number of minutes I can get for my money. Roald Dahl is always worth making an exception for, especially when you're just introducing your child to his books.
We were all chuckling away in the car to this one, which is always good.
"Fab for all the family"
As usual, the imagination of Dahl crackles through this fun story - less dark than so many of his, so not going to scare the small children!
Hugh Laurie adds a dose of Blackadder style characterisation to the story, making it really entertaining. Kept us amused in the car, and likely to be one we repeat.
