"Great follow up to the Emerald Atlas"

In this second installment of the Books of Beginning, Kate, Michael and Emma have been sent to the Edgar Allen Poe Home for Children for their safety while Dr. Pym takes care of some needed tasks.

It isn't long until the whereabouts of the children is discovered, forcing them to flee. Kate ends up going back in time and becoming trapped, while Michael and Emma remain in the present, searching for the Book of Life, known as the Fire Chronicle.

While at times you will be reminded of Harry Potter, this story does set itself apart and is very entertaining in its own right. Narrated by Jim Dale, whose performance is flawless, as I've come to expect. Listening to Dale is like being tucked in to bed with an epic adventure about to begin.

"GREAT for a Book 2 of a trilogy"
    Any additional comments?

The 2nd book of any Trilogy has a tendency to lack significant action/conclusion on account of needing to set up a lot of plot line for the big finale--- but this book was different. The story really took on a character of its own with the kids going in different directions including in time and space. This story added a lot of depth to the series which was lacking a bit in the first book--- the plot line of the Emerald Atlas being a bit more whimsical. This is a great series for kids of the Harry Potter age group because although there is danger, death, and betrayal the stories maintain an underlying sense of humor/bewilderment and are very enjoyable.

    "Good sequel"

Another good installment of the Books of Origin series. I particularly enjoy the way the author presents his characters and shows that sometimes there are no good choices. the reasons behind the choice speaks to the character of the individuals. I look forward to the next installment.

    "Another exciting trilogy!"
If you could sum up The Fire Chronicle in three words, what would they be?

An excellent sequel! Can't wait to read the 3rd volume!

What did you like best about this story?

    The magic!

What about Jim Dale’s performance did you like?

Always wonderful! It is hard to set aside "Harry Potter Voices" when you hear him read.. but there was no problem here...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The escape!

    Any additional comments?

Hope the 3rd one comes to Audible soon!

"And the epic escape from our "real life"continues"
What did you like best about this story?

The Chronicle, the 2nd in the series, doesn't let readers down. I would recommend reading the first book as I don't see this as a stand-alone effort. The story continues to follow the trio of siblings and the quests for the Books of Beginning. The rich detail and deep emotions of the book don't disappoint. The only thing that I disliked was that the next book isn't due out for a few months (March 2015 in hardback) so it will be awhile before I can finish the tale... yet, it's worth the wait!

    Which scene was your favorite?

Ooooh, Rabbit! (I'm sorry, I can't say more or it's spoiler alert time)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Partly because of Jim Dale who breathes life into characters and words and enriches the story so fully.
