From the imagination of New York Times best-selling author, E.G. Foley, comes Book Three in The Gryphon Chronicles, a rollicking, adventure-filled historical fantasy series that's as much fun for grownups as it is for kids.
The Pickpocket Who Inherited a Goldmine
After his harsh beginnings as a rough-and-tumble orphan on the streets of London, Jake Everton takes his rightful place as the long-lost heir of an aristocratic family with magical powers - his personal quest, to follow in his slain parents’ footsteps as a Lightrider in the age-old battle of good versus evil. In the fantastical nooks and crannies of the Victorian Age, Jake and his friends (including his pet Gryphon!) find no shortage of adventure - righting magic-related wrongs, solving supernatural mysteries, and exploring wondrous new worlds.
A Dark Presence…
Something stalks a quaint town in the misty mountains of Wales, attacking humans and magic folk alike. Jake and his friends must get to the bottom of it - and in the land of deep, dwarven mines, the bottom can be very dark, indeed.
"A wonderful novel in the same vein as Harry Potter, full of nonstop action, magical creatures, and the reality that was Queen Victoria’s England." (The Reading Café)

Norwegian in a English world!
With The Dark Portal: The Gryphon Chronicles, Book 3 E.G. Foley does what i thought was impossible: Be better! I love to see Jake growing up. He is getter older, and with that comes grow up things closer. He now how to see who he can trust or not. Where E.G. Foley hits home run is here: Making Jake grow up, and not be indifferent to what happens around him. E.G. Foley has made me a fan, and with this book he proves something to me. This series is going to be one of my favorite series i heard in my life, and i am happy E.G. Foley made my life better with this series!
And what about Jamie du Pont MacKenzie can i say that i have not said about Jamie du Pont MacKenzie before? Nothing! Again he proves what a gold mine man he is in his voice work, Production and feeling in what he reads. I can't believe Jamie du Pont MacKenzie don't get more work. Here is the best compliment: I would love him to read my book!
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author in exchange for an unbiased review.
Yes I would I'm loving every book and audible version by this author
All of them Jake and his friends especially his Griffen are perfect
Just the Griffen Chronicles and this one is just as great
Another great book in this series I just love it can't wait to listen to the next one
Jake and friends expect a fine vacation in Wales visiting the family's mining operation. They meet the house brownies, dwarves, faeries, pixies, unicorns, a headless ghost, a local boarding school, and a villainous dead sorcerer. The publisher's summary will give you some basics, and no spoilers in this review. I just want you to know that there is a lot of adventure, magic, suspense, scary stuff, and a few hidden life lessons for the fellow who has had his whole life and world view upended. That would be Jake. He may be 12, but these novels are great for people of all ages. I guarantee that playing the story during a long journey will keep the whole carfull too engaged to squabble!
Again, Jamie's performance brings it all to vivid life with his way of becoming the characters, not just simply narrating this super series.
It was a fun story. The characters have depth and are easy to love. The adventure is that much more exciting when you actually care about the characters. Narrator was great as well.
