"Delightful reading for the whole family." (The Horn Book Magazine)
"This is absolutely grand fun for anyone, a nine to 90 book." (The New York Herald Tribune)
"The story of a musical cricket and his friends, a mouse and a cat of real character, who took up their abode in a Times Square newsstand....Most appealing whimsy." (School Library Journal)
The characters in this book are really nice and have all different personalities. The ending is sad and happy at the same time. I totally recommend this book for kids 6-12. I'm nine and I LOVED listening to this book.
I downloaded this book to enjoy on a long car trip. We did indeed enjoy it. Tony Shaloub's narration was engrossing and we were completely engaged in the story for the duration of the book. All of us were wishing it was a longer book as we were sad when the end came. I highly recommend this version.
