Three kids - a street musician, a clockmaker, and a maid - learn they may hold the solutions to each other's problems. Meanwhile, danger lurks just around the corner! Marc Thompson handles this steam-punk adventure with verve. His pacing is slow and clear, for those little ears. He maintains a serious, thoughtful tone; after all, these kids' 19th-century America is no laughing matter. Most importantly, Thompson gives the three main characters their own distinct voices. No wonder Publishers Weekly gave The Clockwork Three a starred review.
A team of unlikely friends - an orphaned street musician, a hard-working girl from the tenements, and a talented clockmaker's apprentice - discover that together they can overcome even the darkest of fears.
