These two stories were such a delight. Set in the usual english village, probably in the late forties or early fifties, the characters are described so well that one feels as though the little episodes personally involve one. The narrator has such warmth in her voice. I loved them both.
"Miss Read christmas classics."
The Christmas Mouse and No Holly for Miss Quinn are classic Miss Read christmas stories evoking memories of christmas past that can be enjoyed again and again. Miss Read's characters are usually ordinary everyday folk that value good sense together with old fashioned ideals and Gwen Watford's superb narration brings those characters to life.
as with all miss read books
These are old favourites of mine. Good old fashioned stories. I have read them many times. It was nice to hear them read aloud.
They remind me of my own childhood. Simple times, Christmas as it should be, without the huge expensive gifts.
Gwen Watford reads very well. A pleasant voice.
The stories made me feel very nostalgic.
"A relaxing listen!"
Gwen Watford brings Miss Reads wonderful writing to life. I have so enjoyed listening to these two tales.
