Why was he different, you ask?
Well, a small clue might be in the title of this book...
Charming, surprising and hilarious - David Walliams's beautiful first novel will touch the hearts (and funny bones) of children and adults alike.
Now David teams up with Matt Lucas to produce an audiobook with a difference. Read by two of the brightest stars in sketch comedy, this lavish production brings the hilarious voices behind Little Britain to your nearest earphones. And it tells a fantastic story too...

I have to say David Walliams is a great narrator and made this story very enjoyable.
Yes it kept you listening.
This was a good book and I have just purchased David Walliams other books I am sure they will be equally as good.
Funny, read well, good story and a lovely message of tolerance behind it.
Really good book!
Great story. good and quirky. The whole family loves listening to David Walliams books. 😃

"Laugh out loud funny!"
10 yr old laughed out loud a lot.. Really enjoyed! - read it. ../ listened to it over just two days! She sums it as a great silly sorry that is hilarious.
THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN HOW AMAZING THIS IS!!!!! I LOVE DAVID WALLIAMS!!!!! SO AWESOME!!!! OMG A-MA-ZING!!!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Thoughtfully written, fantastically well narrated. what could be a difficult subject for some people is treated with humour and great sensitivity. as with all David Walliam's books, it's not easy to see where the book is going until you're almost there. my kiddies, nine and 11 years just loved it, as did their mother.
Really enjoyed it. Was really funny and a great listen. I would recommend this to others as well. I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
Never heard my son laugh so much when listening to a book! He absolutely loved reading this book.
"How many more times can my boy listen to this?"
This really is a cracking yarn, and brilliantly performed by David Walliams and Matt Lucas. My son has listened to this one over and over - if it had been on an old fashioned format it'd have worn out by now. Thank heavens for MP3!!
This was a fun listen and I would have given it 4 stars. I knocked one off for the over-indulgent insertion of canned sound effects every two or three sentences (or so it seemed at times) underneath the narration. To be honest I became less aware of this by the end of the story, but early on I found it off-putting. Certainly worth a listen though - it had me smiling and laughing a good few times.
