Audible Editor Reviews

In Stories from Shakespeare, David Timson turns the plays of Shakespeare into prose tales told in unadorned, modern English.

Juliet Stevenson and Michael Sheen perform these novelizations of Shakespeare’s work, which include A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth. Timson’s stories include lines of dialogue from the original works, which Stevenson and Sheen perform with stage-ready intensity.

Both Stevenson and Sheen deliver these stories in an intimate tone, explaining plot points in these plays like storytellers around a campfire.

    "Entertaining review"

This is an excellent book to get a quick view of these short stories. Listening to these stories would help you to possibly read the full version. This was very entertaining and enjoyable to listen to and gives a quick update on several stories without reading all of them!

    "Good introduction to Shakespeare's Plays."

For those who have read little Shakespeare this well narrated audiobook is an excellent introduction. There is a good summary of the plot for each of the plays and plenty of entertaining dramatized excerpts.
The ten plays described are amongst the best known and most popular of Shakespeare's works.
