Christmas is nearing, and for two little mice called Tumtum and Nutmeg it is a very busy time of year. There are cakes to bake and hams to glaze and ants to sugar.

Story
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret - at least, that’s what she thinks.... But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

Hall (Six Feet Under) performs Truman Capote's masterstroke about a young writer's charmed fascination with his unorthodox neighbor, the "American geisha" Holly Golightly. Holly - a World War II-era society girl in her late teens - survives via socialization, attending parties and restaurants with men from the wealthy upper class who also provide her with money and expensive gifts. Over the course of the novella, the seemingly shallow Holly slowly opens up to the curious protagonist.

Thirteen-year-old Catherine Cabot Hall put ink to the first unblemished page of her diary on October 17, 1830, the day after her father returned from Boston with the diary tucked conspicuously under his arm. Catherine's mother had died of fever four years before, and now Catherine performed the duties of housewife and mother, living contentedly with her father and younger sister, Matty, on their New Hampshire farm. Hardly a day passes without Trille and Lena inventing some kind of adventure that often ends in trouble. Whether it's coaxing a cow onto a boat or tobogganing down the steepest and iciest hill with a chicken, there is always a thrill - and sometimes an injury - to be had. Trille loves to share everything with Lena, even Auntie Granny's waffles, which make everything just perfect. But when Lena has to move away, and Auntie Granny leaves the world, it sometimes seems nothing will ever be right again.

Problems with Recording
I, my children and now my grandchildren have read and loved this series for decades. OK - we know them by heart. Pamela Dillman does a great job of reading the stories, but someone in Audible Tech has messed up: the chapter on 'named for a jewel/named for a bird' is missing more than HALF that chapter's words. I don't think Audible an do anything about this since this book was recorded almost a decade ago. But you should know about this. It's disappointing but I still rely on Audible and ALL of the Melendy Series.

We have loved each of the books in this series and were do sad to finish the last one!
In this book, Oliver and Randi work to solve clues after beginning a mysterious treasure hunt. My kids and I had lots of fun trying to guess the answers to each riddle and couldn't wait to find out what "treasure" the end would hold!

When I read that this book is chiefly about the youngest two Melendy children, I thought I might not like it as well as I did the others in the series. But, just like the others the book is chock-full of childish images, adventures and interesting characters.

Great book, makes me think of my cabin with all the wonderful adventures.
Personally I think that this book is good for any age because it's full of exit net and wonder.
My favourite things about it is how they have to "follow" clues to get to the final clue.
