Publisher's summary

The long-awaited companion to the best-selling The New Kid on the Block.

"A wealth of funny new verse from a favorite poet. Prelutsky's comic muse is at its best here. Another winner." (Kirkus Reviews)

"Prelutsky has done it again." (School Library Journal)

Something big is right here!It is this book of wonderful, funny new poems by beloved children's poet Jack Prelutsky. If you've read or listened to The New Kid on the Block, you have some idea of the treat ahead. And if you haven't, all you have to do is start listening!

Here are four vain and ancient tortoises, a rat of culture, Super Samson Simpson, a meat loaf that defies an ax, five flying hotdogs - and many, many more people, animals, and things that are destined to become part of the lives of everyone who loves to laugh.

Say them, chant them, learn them by heart, or just listen to them - Jack Prelutsky's poems are incomparable.

Something Great Has Been Heard Here

This is one of the first Jack Prelutsky recordings I have ever heard during my schooling days as a kid. This audio title contains 24 poems taken from Prelutsky's 1990 book of poems. One of my favorites is "My Brother Built a Robot".

"Something Big Has Been Here" is a favorite title to share with Prelutsky fans and poetry lovers everywhere. It's highly recommended! What more needs to be said?

Great rhymes wrecked by too much music

Jack’s rhymes are soooo entertaining, but they’re hard to hear clearly over all that music. Just a few musical fills to enhance his delivery would have been so much better.

Funniest poems ever.

What other book might you compare Something Big Has Been Here to and why?

It's just as good as the New Kid on the Block, some of the same music team was used.

The voices he can do.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Glorious Garden, beautiful music.

Any additional comments?

From the worst repair man ever, to a malfunctioning robot, and more, this book is hilarious.
